‘Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan’ (DJJS), under its holistic health program - ‘Aarogya’, gave respite to the needy by holding a day long “Cancer Screening & Awareness Camp” on 21st March 2018 at Nurmahal Ashram in Jalandhar, Punjab in association with World Cancer Care Charitable Society’, Jalandhar; especially for the rural communities residing within the vicinity of Ashram premises. The main objective in organizing this camp were to raise awareness on different types of cancer; benefits of early detection; ways to facilitate cancer treatment & cure and on letting people know the fact that cancer is curable if detected at an early stage.

On the day of camp, the patients were registered with the details of their case history, address and contact number to form a database. World Cancer Care Charitable Society provided an expert medical team of doctors & paramedical staff and rendered its services by also providing the facilities of fully equipped three Mobile units for early cancer detection & awareness. The registered patients were given awareness on different types of cancer and their relevant screening processes. The specialized medical team examined 153 patients, comprising of 90 men & 63 women, through different screening tests & techniques like physical examination, mammography test, Pap test, PST test, Smear test etc. to recognize the early symptoms of cancer. Also people from surrounding villages visited the camp so as to seek health benefits.

Swami Gurusharnanand, a disciple of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, who also coordinated this camp, enlightened the astute gathering with the very motive of conducting such camps by the organization. Subsequently, he explained and talked about the cancer menace which is acting like a juggernaut in wiping out the life of people and their loved ones. He further added that despite its deadly consequences, the effects of cancer can still be well controlled and cured by the modern technology & medicines.

There was a special contribution in the camp by Mr Kripal Singh Dheem, who came all the way from England. While sharing his perspective, he said “Cancer awareness is an ongoing process and it needs incessant efforts. People should know that early detection is important and it could help save lives”.

In the end, on behalf of the organization, the DJJS preachers expressed gratitude to the medical team of World Cancer Care Charitable Society for their valuable support & contribution in the success of the Camp. And they also shared organization’s vision and various activities that are being conducted at both social and spiritual fronts in order for achieving ‘Global Peace’ – the ultimate goal of the organization.
