On the occasion of World Arthritis Day, a free Arthritis checkup and consultation camp has been organized in Nurmahal, Nakodar Road, from 10 am to 3pm on Sunday. This camp specifically catered patients with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases and focused on arthritis – one of the most diseases prevalent in the same category.

Arthritis is a very common and silent disease that involves inflammation of joints in the body. It is a degenerative and painful medical condition marked by inflammation in the joints that can lead to pain and stiffness. It affects people of all ages - between 5 and 85 years. With advancement and research in this field, over 200 types of arthritis-related conditions have been identified. However, majority of people complaint about pain and inflammations mostly.

A dedicated team of eminent doctors Dr. Harpal Nanda, Dr. Parminder, Dr. Jai Prakash, Dr. Shashi Garg, and Dr. Sandeep were presented in the camp to examine patients and offer consultation and diagnostics. In this camp, 400 patients out of which 300 were women attended and availed the services facilitated by the doctors from various renowned hospitals and medical institutions. The major kind of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases found were: arthritis, joint pain, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, sciatica, frozen shoulder, spondylitis, etc. got benefitted.

According to the researches, it has been observed during the diagnosis, that women suffer three times more than men with arthritis. The reasons behind the lopsided distribution of the disease will be discussed and studied by the organization in the times to come.

Along with free medicines distributed to the patients, these were also taught specific physical exercise to be practiced on regular basis at their homes. There was excellent response to medical camp.
