Ludhiana: Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan organized a mega event to acknowledge and encourage women achievers and iconic faces of empowerment under its gender equality program - santulan. At the yearly 'Annual Santulan Awards' mega event conducted at Extension Library, Ludhiana City in the state of Punjab. Eminent women icons of the town were awarded for exemplary work or achievements in their respective fields.

Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan is a socio spiritual organization which is working for the establishment of world peace through its 9-point social reforms and welfare programs, santulan being the dedicated initiative working with a mandate of elimination of all forms of discrimination & violence against women particularly sex selective abortions. For the realization of the same, santulan holds number of awareness drives, mass sensitization campaigns, rallies, street theater conferences and workshops in communities as well as corporate sector. In the same vein, as a part of its women empowerment drives, santulan organizes 'Annual Santulan Awards' event every year on International Women's Day. 

This year on International Women's Day santulan has initiated a month long countrywide campaign to reinstate lost glory of womanhood under the label of 'Swabhiman'. The sansthan is holding 'Annual Santulan Awards ' events in six states of the country - Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand,  Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh in the month of march 2015 commemorating International Women's Day.

At the Ludhiana 'Annual Santulan Awards ' event in the state of Punjab, the chief guest Hon’ble Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment in the Union Cabinet Sh. Vijay Sampla first released the project report of massive awareness and sensitization campaign against sex selective abortions conducted in Ludhiana from 2010 to 2012 under the tag of Santulan Campaign. Later along with other eminent guests - Sh. Ravinder Mittal IRS, Deputy Commissioner Income Tax, Ludhiana, Dr. Maninder K Biswas IRS, Sh. Kuldeep Oswal, Industrialist, Sh. Mohinder Goyal, Industrialist, Sh. S. S. Bhogal, Chairman CII, Punjab State Council and Sh. Madan Mohan Vyas Ji, ex-Chairman Improvement Trust Ludhiana awarded Dr. Richa Agnihotri PPS for her exemplary work in police services, Ms. Sandeep Riat for her exemplary work in the field of Entrepreneurship sector, Ms. Radhika Jaitwani for social welfare, Ms. Purva for Kathak Indian Dance Classical, Dr. Paramjit Kaur from the Education sector, Dr. (Mrs.) Jasbir Kaur in the field of Nursing Education, Dr. Anshu Vatsyayan for Ayurveda and Ms. Manjot Kaur for sports.

The event mesmerised as well as motivated hundreds through its thought provoking presentation of demonstrations, activities, flash mob and enlightening speeches by Dr. Maninder K Biswas IRS and Sadhvi Deepika Bharti Ji, disciple of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji who is also the national program coordinator of Santulan in the DJJS and was specially invited from New Delhi, the head office of the sansthan to share her expert views in gender perspective. Sadhvi Ji shook the rigid mindsets of the audience and awakened them from deep prejudicial gender biased slumbers by her thought provoking speech.

The pretty women guests with beautiful flowers fixed on their hair by santulan volunteers roamed all over the place spreading fragrance of compassion. High Tea was served at the end alongside which people also keenly saw the santulan exhibition.
