The Truth of Creation (Part - 2) djjs blog

In the last blog, we learnt that this Creation is an infinite composition of the Creator. But, the modern scientists and the intelligentsia have not yet been able to completely and conclusively unveil this infinite composition or the complete truth of creation. Though some of the modern scientists have ventured into the possibility of Multiverses, however, in the absence of concrete evidence, this conjecture of there being multiverses continues to be adjudged as a ‘pseudo-scientific nonsense’. In this context, it was told that it is not that creation has always remained an unknown and unfathomed composition for us. Our spiritual scientists not only successfully fathomed and demystified the truth of this hugely copious creation but also practically perceived and experienced each and every aspect of it. Through several scriptures and religious texts, they unravelled the mystery of countless worlds and universes. How could they do it, this very fact is presented in this Blog.

I will start the discussion with empirical science. Let us ponder as to how and when the masterpieces came into being this world. Be it a classic poem, an epic, a mathematical formula or some scientific invention – the composers or inventors of these masterpieces could experience themselves in a highly exalted state of mind, even though it may have been for a few moments. The state of elevation happened to be so immense and high that even they could not feel the sway of their ego-self on their being. They had merged and become one with their composition. They had completely lost in the work of composition. The engrossment was so intense that the idea of being the doer or composer itself came to lose its existence. Swami Rama Tirth explains this state of mind in these words – “While composing a poem, the poet loses the idea of his/her self. When a mathematician contemplates on solving difficult mathematical problems, it is as if his mind tightly holds the Supreme Lord; but, after solving the problem, re-entering under the influence of his ego-self, he exclaims with joy that he has solved the problem. This ego brings the whole work to naught. It is as if a person is lecturing perfectly well; but, the moment the feeling of little self enters his mind, the next moment all his wisdom-filled talk banishes. It is akin to a student who is reciting his poem in full flow and rhythm. But, the moment he realises it, his tongue cease to utter.

You too may have had similar experiences. In fact, such experiences occur due to a subtle science. In egoless state and moments of absolute concentration, we cease to be ‘ourselves’. In those moments, we connect to ‘Higher Being’ and are therefore in a super-conscious state. Though momentarily, but we establish a direct connection with the ‘Higher Power’. That is the reason in such state, sublime ideas and deeds flows out of our being. Sublime inspirations take birth in our being.

You will be surprised to know, but it is true that the whole foundation of modern science firmly stand on these divine inspirations. The example of Greek Mathematician Archimedes is world famous. King Hiero has ordered him to examine the purity of his gold-crown. The King suspected that the goldsmith may have adulterated some other metal in his crown. The challenge was that the purity was to be examined without damaging or making any cut or hole in the crown. Archimedes pondered over the problem for many days. But, nothing materialised. One day, when he had as such no thought of this issue in his conscious mind, while taking bath, he shouted loudly – ‘Eureka! Eureka!’ – I have found it! I have found it! This solution was not the result of contemplation at the mental or intellect level. Rather, it had just happened or, say, it descended from a height of super conscious state.

Similarly, there was a German scientist – Kekule. He was working hard to devise the structural formula for benzene molecule. But, he was not getting any success. One night, in deep sleep, he had a wonderful dream. He saw a snake biting his own tail. This sight in dream proved a revolutionary step and the benzene ring was discovered.

Exactly similar was the experience of 10th century mathematician Karl Gauss. Since long he was attempting to prove a difficult theorem based on numbers. One day, the solution just did not happen but was revealed and awakened within his being. About his wondrous experience, Gauss writes – ‘Finally two days ago, I succeeded… like a sudden flash of lightening, the riddle happened to be solved. I myself cannot say what was the conducting thread which connected what I previously knew with what made my success possible.’

Such divine inspirations have been happening in the world of science. Similar inspirations are connected to the Zeta-function also. When German mathematician Bernhard Riemann was on death-bed, he had written some unique properties of this function on a piece of paper. These properties were unknown and mysterious to the wold of science till that time because Bernhard Riemann had not described anywhere the step by step details as to how he arrived at those results or properties. It happened 75 years ago. Today, by dent of relentless hard work, the scientists have successfully proven some of the properties written by Riemann at his death bed. Famous mathematician like Jacques Hadamard are exclaiming with great surprise – ‘The True recipient of accolades is Riemann, who had revealed the mysterious truths associated with Zeta-function long ago when even the facts to prove them were yet to be discovered. It is really surprising to think as to how this unravelling of mystery happened, from where this inspiration came; no description is available about this.

Not just mathematician or scientists, but there have been many composers and artists who are live examples in this context. Once, the famous musician Mozart himself told as to how he composed his favourite songs – “Ideas swarm in me on their own. Where and how do they come, I do not know and I have nothing to do with it… the moment the theme of song comes to me, amazing musical notes begin to spring forth in my inner being. The succeeding notes automatically match with the preceding ones. Then, my soul is on fire with inspiration… the work grows; I keep expanding it… until I have entire composition completed in my head.

We need to contemplate as to where these inspirations sprout from? Some scientists believe that this is due to constant trial and error process which goes on in the brain. These inspirations, according to them, are mere chance. But, such difficult problems or mysteries, like that of Riemann theorems, which are solved in many pages, how can these be simply a matter of chance. How can mere brain exercises lead to their solution? That too when our conscious brain itself does not know as to how it has demystified the riddle!

In this context, a scientist named Poincare talks of ‘Subliminal Self’ and calls it as the source of inspirations. He also relates it to the subconscious and unconscious levels of mind of psychology. According to him, our unconscious mind is more subtle and powerful than our conscious mind. Constant contemplation goes on in the inners layers of the unconscious mind. And, the solution is constructed therein. Indeed, this argument seems correct in some references. But this does not apply in the examples cited above. This is because our unconscious mind dabbles into the already stored ideas, karmas and information and presents them only in some new form. It cannot invent unknown ideas afresh.

Then, what should be accepted as the source of these exact and scientific inspirations? This still remains an unsolved question. As an answer, only one unquestionable argument sprouts forth. It is that in this Universe, there is an infinitely intelligent and omniscient power which sends divine currents of inspiration into the minds of scientists and affords opportunity of happening of unique inventions. Albert Einstein called this force as the ‘mystical super power’ and used to say these words about it – “It is a source of all true science… the cosmic religious experience is the strongest and noblest mainspring of scientific research.

This is verily the secret behind all scientific inspirations. This is the complete truth. Our modern scientists too could experience it, though a bit superficially. But, the ancient sages of India had experienced this Truth in its utmost broadest fashion. It is described in the Mundakopanishad that once, Muni Shaunak, who was the mentor of a Gurukul, went to Maharishi Angira and enquired – “O’God! Kasminn bhagavo vigyaate sarvamidam vigyaatam bhavati – On knowing what everything becomes known?” In reply, Maharishi Angira said, “According to the enlightened saints, two kinds of knowledge are worthy of attainment – one, ‘para’ and the second, ‘apara’. Rig-Veda, Yajur-Veda, Sam-Veda, Atharva-Veda, education, kalpa, grammar, nirkuta, chhanda, and astrology come under Apara Vidya (Secular Knowledge). But, that knowledge through which we are enabled to realise the indestructible element called Brahman, it is called Divine Knowledge (para Vidya).” Maharishi Angira finally explains to Muni Shaunak – “Yaha sarvagya sarvavidyasya gyaanmayam tapaha. Tasmatt etatt brahma naam roopamannam cha jaayate” – It is this metaphysical element called Brahman, who is all-knowing, omniscient and from whom has emerged this grand universe. In brief, knowing the omniscient and the source of everything, the Supreme Lord, all else becomes known. By acquiring Divine Knowledge (Para Vidya), all the unknown secrets can be known. By knowing the Creator, everything in His creation can be known. All its direct and indirect aspects can be known.

Behind this proven truth is implicit a highly wonderful science of noblemen of ancient India. Let us dwell on it in detail. In actuality, who is Brahman according to these epics? According to Atharva-Veda (10.7.12) –

Yasminn bhoomirantariksham

Dyauryasminndhyaahitaa

Yatraagnishchandrama aha suryo

Vaatastishthantyaarpitaa skambham tam bruhi

Meaning: The power which embraces all worlds, Sun, Moon etc. is called Brahman. This is akin to a tiny seed in which rests the whole tree. Likewise, this entire Universe remains embedded in the Brahman in the subtle form of a seed.

In this series, another question arises – Where does the Supreme Brahman reside? Though every tiny particle of this universe is home to the Supreme Brahman, but according to Vedic Philosophy, this Supreme Power specifically resides in the human body. In this context, a classic description is found in Aitaryopanishad. The composers of Upanishads elucidate – After creating this Universe, the Supreme Brahman created Man. Then, the Supreme Power realised – Sa Eekshat Katham nvidam madrite syat – How would man live without me? Thinking thus,

Sa etameva seemaanam

Vidaaryaitayaa dvaaraa prapadyat

Saishaa vidritirnaam dvaastadetannaandanam

Meaning: God entered the portals of human body and seated Himself in the Forehead (Brahmrandhra). Supreme Brahman can be attained only by entering through this subtle and divine door.

The equation is crystal clear before us now. In Supreme Brahman, all worlds and universes exist. And, that Supreme Brahman, with all His creation, secrets, mysteries and embellishments, is seated in the Forehead between the two eyebrows of our body. That is why, Rishis (the enlightened Saints and Seers) have said –

Yad pinde tad brahmaande

Brahmaande ye gunaahaa santi

Pindeshvapi cha te sthitaahaa

Meaning: That what inheres in this human body is inhered in universe too. The qualities of the universe manifest in this human body as well.

On experiencing this truth in te inner world, Saint Paltu instantaneously said – “In physical body dwells the whole creation; the whole creation inheres in the individual bodily case. It is also astonishing. How do I explain? A drop inheres the whole ocean.

This fact can also be understood in the terminology of computer science. A small microchip is fitted in the motherboard of the processor. Despite being so small, the microchip can store data amounting to thousands of gigabytes, which is easily available to the computer scientists. Similarly, the place of the Divine Eye in the middle of the forehead is like a Super Microchip. In it is coded the entire creation and its Creator. The Rishis of yore were the knowers of this supernatural and supreme science. They could awaken the conscious centre (Agya Chakra) through Divine Knowledge and could activate the Divine Eye situated therein.

On opening of the Divine Eye, the aspirant gets to see the Supreme Brahman seated there in His full glory. That is why it is said in the holy texts – Chakshruunmeelitam yena tasmayah shri gurave namah – With guru’s grace, the Divine Eye gets opened. This eye reveals the inner world before the aspirant. He gets to perceive the Supreme Brahman situated within. And, with this the aspirant gets to perceive the multiverses, the entire creation and its associated mysteries! By accessing the super microchip fitted subtly on the forehead, the aspirant gets to know everything. He becomes omniscient through the Science of sciences, the Supreme Science i.e. Brahm Gyan. That is why it has been said in Atharva-Veda (4.20.1) – O’ deity of Brahm Vidya! One who attains you, he can peep into everything in the entire earth and space. Nothing remains hidden from him. Everything is discovered before him and becomes known to him.

Lastly, I would like to present a small incident which is pertinent and relevant in the instant context. This incident is from Shvetaashvataropanishad. Once, some inquisitive rishis gathered and started discussing about life, creation, etc. they had several questions before them and were curious to find answers for them; like, Kutaha jaataaha sma – From which source we came? Kena jeevanam – On whose power and strength are we living? Kva sampratishthaahaa – This creation inheres in which power? The Upanishad further tells that for answers of these questions, the Rishis did not opt for the path of argumentation. They did not waste time in any disputations and mental exercises. Instead, they instantly sat in meditation. In deep meditation, they perceived the Supreme Brahman (the God-element) within their being. That very Supreme Brahman which inheres the whole of creation and its mysteries! Thus, the Rishis got fully awakened upon perceiving the Supreme Brahman. They became all-knowing and exclaimed – Avigyaatam vigyaatam bhavati – The unknown is all-known now!

So, this was the Supreme Science and provider of all knowledge and mysteries. It was through the medium of this Supreme Science that our Super-Scientists (Saints and Seers of yore) could fully know The Truth of Creation.
