That prosperous state of Punjab, which had given birth to such Youth revolutionary martyrs like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru who willingly sacrificed their lives in making their motherland free from the clutches of the British regime, is today factually traced out to be gravely enslaved in the hands of drug abuse. And the ironical misfortune is that the section of youth who could otherwise stand against this evil cause is the primary victim of this problem. According to statistics, about 70 percent of the state's Youth population is addicted to one or the other type of intoxicating substance.

People of Phagwara, Punjab stirred and motivated to make their state Drug Free

In order to counter this unbecoming condition of Punjab and to reinstate in people the lost deter to fight against the evil in the society and on such auspicious occasion of Martyrs' day commemorating great Indian revolutionaries - Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, the Phagwara center of  Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan founded/mentored by His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj ji under its ongoing initiative, Drug Abuse Eradication Program (Bodh) hosted an awareness program at the Shiva Temple on Khalwara Road Baba Ghadia in Phagwara, Punjab on the issue of drug abuse, the most prevalent problem of not only the area but the entire state. Through a series of dance performances, motivational songs, a brain storming quiz session, eye opening skit and an insightful lecture, the facilitators of Bodh reminded the participants of those who fought the battle of devotion for the sake of their nation and the sacrifices made by our revolutionaries who rather envisioned in them that larger goal of sovereignty than succumbing to trivial expectations of damage in making India free, thereby motivating them to ignite in themselves the same fire that can wholly burn out the problem of drug abuse from Punjab. The program consequently stirred the participants to the degree where they were inspired to contemplate on the fact of our intended and useless haunting silence in relation to the grave issue of drug abuse which is ruining the entire generation of youth in the society today. Thus, we must strengthen our inner potentials and stand strong against drug abuse so that we and our future generation can breathe in a healthy drug free society.

The event enthused around 450 people who attended the program to be true examples of Healthy Lifestyle and Drug Free change makers so that others can take inspiration from them and be parts of that ongoing fight against Drug Abuse.
