Taking one more exclusively integral step towards creating drug free society, the DJJS Karkardooma centre of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan founded/mentored by His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj ji under its Drug Abuse Eradication Program (Bodh) hosted a one day Anti-Drug Drive at V3S Mall Laxmi Nagar and its surrounding areas. Throughout the drive, the selfless volunteers of Bodh team dressed themselves up as clowns and personally met the visitors at the mall and the nearby metro stations. The prime tool of spreading awareness was to make the visitors pronounce 5 benefits of smoking. When people obviously failed to answer since there are for sure no such benefits of smoking, those clowns further asked, “Why do you smoke then"? This largely created a rippled effect of awareness amongst the visitors for doing something which is absolutely not beneficial for them or for the society at large.
People were not only educated about the ins and outs of gateway drugs like pan, alcohol, cigarettes, gutkha etc, they were also given tips on how to deal with peer pressure which is the most common reason behind one's experimentation and were also educated on the benefits of living a drug free life. A nukkad natak or a street play was as well performed by the volunteers to impart upon them a visual effect of the damage done by drugs to an individual, to a family and to the society as a whole. The skit stirred the people from within and compelled them to think over their actions. In this way, by the end of the day the drive successfully helped more than 1000 people around the area to ponder over the hazardous complecations which both gateway and hardcore drugs are gifting to the mankind in return.
