On the thought of celebrating Christmas in a unique way, students from a reputed; D.A.V School of Sector-7, Rohini, New Delhi, planned to meet up and spend quality time with Manthanites at the Badli center of Manthan-SVK, an initiative to support education for the poor and underserved by Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan.
On 24th December 2016, about ten senior class students along with school teacher-Ms. Sonia Arora spent about two hours at Manthan. Teacher-volunteers briefed all about Manthan-SVK and welcomed them whole-heartedly.
Sonia Arora, the DAV teacher was happy to sing a Christmas carol for Manthanites on Christmas Eve. She was deeply touched while interacting with Manthan children. DAV students learned the true essence of caring and sharing as they interacted with Manthanites about their hobbies, future ambitions, likes-dislikes and all of them gave a collective performance for the kids. Manthanites were gelled up with DAV Student so well as they were engaged having fun, clicked selfies, smiled together, knowing well each other while shaking hands.
Manthanites earned applauds from DAV students when they responded smartly, narrated rhymes and meaningful expressions. Students also supported by donating clothes and distributing refreshments to the children. Most of them wished to visit the center again. Manthanites later gifted a thankyou card to the group prepared by them only.
Ms. Sonia Arora and the school students, who visited Manthan for the first time were really impressed and have felt great sense of satisfaction witnessing the efforts of the Manthan teachers and positive societal change. She appreciated the Manthan’s objective of ‘sampoorna’ i.e. concept of holistic development.
Such engagement provides an opportunity for the privileged one's, to know their community better and in addition, these united efforts inculcate a dutiful attitude to come forward for social endeavours.
