Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan’s Manthan SVK initiative for education of underprivileged children awarded at iVolunteer award ceremony 2018

iVolunteer is a social enterprise that promotes volunteering with the mission to bring volunteers and organizations together to share time, skills, and passion to promote India’s social development.

Over the last decade, iVounteer organization had expanded their reach to over 350+ organizations in India and over 40 countries globally and today, they have an all India presence through offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune. They reach out to more than lac individuals and engage 1000 active volunteers at any given time, making us one of the largest volunteering enterprises in India. iVolunteer aims to impact 12 social development areas and achieves its mission through a range of initiatives and a large network of individuals, NGOs, and corporate organizations.

iVolunteer has conducted more than 150+ training workshops that resulted in training over 900+ NGO professionals. They are also the only Indian organization to represent the country as a global affiliate with networks such as Points of Light (headquartered in USA), Global Pro Bono Network (convened by Taproot Foundation & BMW Foundation) as well as International Association for Volunteer Effort (headquartered in USA).

Volunteering lays the foundation for people to actively build communities and the nation they thrive in. Yet, in modern India, there is little recognition of volunteering. iVolunteer Awards aim to change this with a mission to celebrate, reward, and promote volunteers and volunteering in India. With this aim, iVolunteer invited organizations to participate in the sixth edition of iVolunteer Awards.  Organisations were asked to share their inspiring volunteering journeys with iVolunteer awards organisers and submit their applications in any of the 4 given categories. The award categories were: Volunteer Hero- Recognizes individuals whose exemplary contribution of time and skills for community development inspires others to volunteer; Youth Champion - Awarded to individuals less than 23 years of age for inspiring display of passion and commitment to volunteering;  Leader in Volunteer Engagement- Recognizes NGOs that best leverage the vast potential of volunteers to achieve their mission;  Leader in Employee Volunteering- Awarded to the company with the finest practices that have encouraged and enabled employee volunteering.

Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan participated in the Leader in Volunteer Engagement category and was among the top ten FINALISTS.

The applicants were assessed on the basis of :

  • Their volunteering policy, volunteer engagement and training processes
  • The efficacy and success of their volunteer management practices
  • The initiatives that ensure positive volunteer experiences
  • The impact of volunteer work on the Organisation’s mission

 

Selection Process was as follows:

The awards team conducted an initial screening of all entries submitted to the iVolunteer Awards. A brief summary of the volunteering experience of the selected organization was uploaded on the iVolunteer Awards website. This synopsis of their works served as their public profile that people used as a reference to know and learn more about the organizations and vote for them. The five applicant profiles that receive the highest number of votes as well as five applicant profiles shortlisted by a ‘Panel of Experts’ were then presented to the National Jury. Names of the finalists were announced on the website and on the social media platforms.

The 10 finalists were awarded with a memento and medal badge on 30th October at Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir, 24th and 32nd Road Church Road, Near to Patwardhan Udyan, Bandra West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400050.
