As they say, “Your body is your most priceless possession, so take care of it as it is the only place you have to live in.” In an endeavour to support healthy living in the society, Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan (DJJS) initiated a health camp exclusively for the students of Manthan, DJJS’s holistic education program, which focuses on empowering students through initiatives, like capacity building, health care, nutrition, field visits and establishing a connection with his divine existence that rests in spirituality. This health camp was organised by the New Kitchlu Nagar centre, Ludhiana, Punjab on 8th August, 2016 involving 90 beneficiaries.
This event was made successful by the Guests of Honour, Dr. Promila ji (BHMS), Dr. T.D. Gupta (MBBS; retired SMO) and Dr. Harpreet. The event was kick started by Sadhavi Pradeepa Bharti ji who shared her pearls of wisdom and spread health awareness among the students by providing health tips on maintaining hygiene every day. She emphasised the importance of bathing and brushing daily, washing hands before having a meal and the benefits of a balanced diet. One of the volunteers also supported the cause by sharing some insight to into healthy living. In the second part of the event, Dr. Promila examined the students and identified protein and calcium deficiency in them thus recommending milk and protein rich diet. Dr. Gupta examined the students’ eyes and explained the causes of irritation and redness in the eyes i.e. dust particles. He ended his session by sharing some tips on eye care. Some students were examined for their sugar level as they had complained of frequent urination and some related issues. Anaemia was one of the common problem that came out among students during the examination. Medicines were recommended for the issues that surfaced post diagnosis.
The last part of the event entailed a vote of thanks by Sadhavi Rajni ji. Dr. Gupta’s speech was an icing on the cake as he was immensely impressed with the intelligent working and significance of Manthan program. He said that it gave him an enormous satisfaction to be a part of an event like this which selflessly caters to the needs of the needy kids and felt proud and humbled at the same time to be able to help these kids.
