Kurukshetra has a special privilege of celebrating a unique festival to commemorate the birth anniversary of the song celestial the Bhagavad-Gita christened as Kurukshetra Utsav Gita Jayanti Samaroha. The festival is celebrated at Kurukshetra for its association with Bhagavad-Gita that was born here, at the outset of the battle of Mahabharata, on the 11th day of the bright moon fortnight (Shukla Ekadasi) in the month of Margshirsh (November-December according to lunar calendar). Gita Jayanti Festival as the name suggests is a unique and exceptional festival dedicated to the birth of Srimad Bhagvad Gita, the holy book of Hindus.

Like every year, this year also the annual event of Gita Jayanti was organized by Kurukshetra Development Board on the banks of Brahma Sarovar from 9 December 2013 to 17 December 2013 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan participated in the event and organised various exhibitions and stalls on this auspicious occasion. It provided a good opportunity to DJJS to introduce people with the activities undergoing in the social, spiritual and cultural arena, owing to its several humanitarian projects like providing livelihood to visually impaired and physically challenged, reforming the prisoners, holistic education and health facilities for the deprived communities, et al . A stall on the organization’s literature was held wherein books like Chaitanya, Why and What Sort of Spiritual Guru?, Mind, The Gems of Spirituality et al bestowed people with spiritual endowments. An exhibition on fancy Anatardrishti (a special welfare program for persons with disabilities) products like candles, lamps and earthen lamps, and incense sticks etc. was held. The purpose of organising these exhibitions was to deliver the message that the true identity of enlightened beings such as saints is their divine knowledge that is the key to eternity and not their place of birth or their social background. Various Chief Guests such as Naveen Jindal (Member of Parliament, BJP) and Bhupinder Singh Huda (Chief Minister, Haryana) became the part of the exhibition organised by DJJS. Lakhs of tourists visited Kurukshetra during this event to participate in this sacred fair.
