JAAGO - a  PAN- India campaign to mark a drug- free and eco- friendly Diwali’ was organised by Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan under its social initiative BODH - Drug Abuse Eradication Program and Sanrakshan – the nature conservation program in connection with Diwali – the occasion of light and prosperity. Deputy Mayor of Municipal Corporation Sh. Tikender panwar ji inaugurated the event with ribbon cutting and had registered his contribution for the initiative. He also spoke and discussed about the effects of drug abuse and how today youth is contributing its share in air pollution out of insensitivity and lack of information towards the environment. Through the support of the local authorities and youth the campaign held throughout the day at Ridge, Shimla, one of the high footfall areas in Himachal Pradesh.  Rukmani Bharti and Kiran bahrti ji, Preachers of DJJS also took one to one and group interaction sessions with the participants. She highlighted the main aim of the campaign i.e. to provide hard facts and consequences of the tendency of youth to experiment with the drugs at schools and colleges, therefore leading them into the trap of addiction.Thousands of passers-by got awareness about the gravity of the problem through pamphlets and brochures distributed. People of the area appreciated the initiative taken and has proposed the organization to continue such events in different other areas of Himachal Pradesh.
