DJJS, with the divine inspiration of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji (Head & Founder of the organization), is an institution that itself witnesses majority of operational management of its socio-spiritual programs by Sadhvis (female disciples). It recognizes the successful deeds of women in society every year by adding a feather in their caps called ‘Santulan Award’, under its gender equality initiative ‘Santulan’. After successful conduct for 7 years, this year, the organization is conducting 8th Annual Santulan Awards in 7 regions of the country accrediting women for their remarkable performances in several social fields. Ambala being one of the states showcasing great women achievers, witnessed the award ceremony on March 19, 2017 at  Khanna Palace, Ambala City with presence of about 800 attendees.

Women who have exhibited extraordinary performances in their respective fields were shortlisted and further scrutinized by the organization jury based on their achievements and thus, nominated for awards. The list of achievers includes Dr.Pratibha Singh (Social activist), Ms. Ruchi Kaushik (Social Activist), Dr. Alka Sharma (Lecturer), Ms. Monika Bhardwaj (Social activist), Ms. Alka Garg (Social activist-education), Dr. Sadhna (Professor), Ms. Reena Singla (Social activist-women empowerment), Ms. Namrata Gaur (Advocate), Ms. Manju Pahal (Yoga teacher and social activist), Ms. Tanu & Ms. Himani (students-health awareness activists), Ms. Anamika Walia (Lecturer), Ms. Amar Raveesh (Govt. teacher, head of district yoga trainer in Pataanjali yogapeeth) and Ms. Kartar Kaur (Gynaecologist).

The panel of guests to honour these idols include eminent dignitaries - Smt. Renu Kaur Saini (Pardresh Mantri, Mahilla Morcha BJP, Haryana), Smt. Neeta Khera (Member of HPSC), Smt. Milan Pandit (District Child Welfare Officer) and Smt. Arvindrajeet Kaur (Women Protection Officer), who themselves are exemplars of women empowerment.

The event began with a gender based quiz to counsel participants on the deep-rooted discrimination as a result of stereotyping, followed by a skit to showcase the journey of a woman who combats all odds against her, succeeds and gifts another case study to quote for future generations. A dance ballet to represent woman as an incarnation of goddess and a Shakti powerhouse, was also performed by team of enthusiastic volunteers. An enlightening lecture to elucidate age old prejudices and thus create value for girl child, was delivered by Sadhvi Gopika Bharti Ji. She also laid emphasis on the need for women to be spiritually empowered and united in order to rise above the present scenario and re-hoist the flag of women glory. She reiterated that women, rather than seeking support, will have to become the torch bearers to bring about gender revolution. Thereafter, each awardee was honoured with 8th Annual Santulan Award being the token of appreciation, followed by a group photo.

In the end, an appreciation note was delivered by the chief guest acknowledging the organization’s initiative to honour women to commemorate International Women’s Day, and awardees for their incredible contributions to society. Further, along with high tea, an exhibition was put up to display organizations’ educative publications and initiatives in regards to elimination of social menaces.
