A woman possesses the ability to lead, be it a household or a fortune 500 company. The accomplishments are not hidden, but sadly need to be highlighted every now and then. The statement was said aloud by Sadhvi Omprabha Bharti ji during a seminar held in Jalandhar recently with women, gearing up confidence of many. Its time to unveil real strength, break silence and raise voice against gender based violence, not just for yourself but also for the ones without voice held behind, she added.

Do not settle for a broken reflection, reiterates DJJS Jalandhar, empowering women

The women empowerment seminar was held on July 13, 2017 at Rotary Club Jalandhar Cantt with about 80 women to make women ponder over why women settle for subordination. It began with a brief on role and value of a woman by Sadhvi ji, introducing ongoing women empowerment drive ‘Tu hai Shakti’ by Santulan to eliminate sex selective abortions. It was followed by the popular icebreaker i.e. ball pass game wherein, the first person holding the ball shared her definition of empowerment supported by an instance, and will further pass on the ball to next person who repeats the exercise. The objective was to divulge the missing element of spiritual enlightenment that is an inevitable requisite to holistic empowerment and gives way to women to realize their self-worth. Further, Sadhvi Omprabha Bharti ji delivered an edifying lecture laying emphasis on the values added by women to, not just family but society on the whole, honesty, gratitude, unity to name a few. Putting forward the odious statistics of violence against women at global level, Sadhvi ji explained the need for women to bear the responsibility of altering their status, defying submission by modifying behaviour of society towards them.

The seminar witnessed panellists like Ms. Simran Sachdeva-President of club, Ms. Renu Malhotra-Secretary, Ms. Madhu Sharma, Ms. Manju Kalra-Management Members and Sadhvi Radhika Bharti ji-disciple of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, Head & Founder of DJJS. The seminar was concluded with a group discussion between Sadhvi ji and attendees inviting views on constituents of empowerment, followed by a group photo. A memento as a token of gratitude was presented by the panellists to DJJS members. In the end, the participants pledged together in support of the cause to join the drive against gender based violence.
