Alas, the city Uttar Pradesh, once known for home of iconic woman like Rani LaxmiBai, is now defined for bleak outlook for women, ever worsening skewed sex ratio, maximum furore against crime and many more. The situation of women in said state demands removal of these stains and regaining the lost glory of women as in the past. DJJS under its gender equality program Santulan’ is particularly targeting Uttar Pradesh cities, Aligarh being one of the predominant parts, to awaken sensitivity towards womanhood and enlighten women to be holistically empowered and repeat incredible history. Under its ongoing women empowerment drive ‘Tu Hai Shakti’ against sex selective abortions, DJJS Aligarh is conducting numerous workshops across the city with every age group, various institutions and at public places to inculcate value for women by every possible means, lectures, group discussion, dance, nukkad natak, exhibitions, forum theatres et al.

  • An awareness program was organized in school premises with about 375 students and teachers with the objective to rectify the already created false values and disseminate knowledge and clarifications on myths prevailing against girl child at an early age.
  • Various ice breaking as well as intriguing gender based activities like question answer session, games etc. to understand the extent of discrimination in mindsets were organized.
  • An informative lecture was delivered by Sadhvi ji discussing the role and value of girl child, putting across the unexplored powerhouse of capabilities within women with reference to her countless achievements since time immemorial
  • The program was closed with a pledge by all the participants. followed by an appreciation note by school authorities, recognizing Santulan endeavors in this regard.

Gender equality - no more a delaying reality in UP's Aligarh
  • A sensitization workshop was organized with 115 participants including students and teachers to discuss the deteriorating status of women today, leading to steep rise in crime against them.
  • By means of a presentation, Sadhvi Reena Bharti ji laid emphasis on causes and consequences of skewed child sex ratio, specifically in Uttar Pradesh, and explained how respecting women is directly proportional to societal elevation.
  • A spellbinding skit was presented to demonstrate various forms of crime against women, particularly female feticide.
  • The workshop was concluded with presentation of mementos by organizing faculty to Santulan team, followed by presentation of DJJS spiritual publication to School Principal, Dr. Abha Sharma.
  • An exclusive exhibition was arranged by enthusiastic volunteers that involved display of slogans to respect women, save girl child along with distribution of Santulan pamphlets and program publications.

  • An interactive session was organized with about 65 women from nearby areas to discuss how the problem of sex selection and further selective abortions is persistent in society and is gradually eroding women status from society.
  • Sadhvi Ji delivered a lecture shedding light on crimes against women happening all over India, referring to eyebrow raising statistics against the fairer sex.
  • In the end, sensitized and zealous participants took a pledge to be part of the campaign and work towards eradication of crimes against women like sex selective abortions.

  • An awareness program was conducted with about 200 participants to create sensitization about age-old prejudices being used as reasons for sex selective abortions.
  • It began with Guru Vandana, expressing grief of an unborn fetus, followed by an enlightening brief on Santulan philosophy and initiatives, Tu Hai Shakti being the one on going at present.
  • A video showcasing case study of a renowned woman icon, Arunima Sinha and her exemplary achievements, along with her story based quiz was screened to unveil women potential.
  • A dance performance portraying women power was presented by avid volunteers.
  • Skit to display girl child as an asset, if braced with fair opportunity, was presented.
  • Sadhvi Vedwani Bharti ji concluded the program with a brief lecture quoting various iconic women and their contribution to society. She also discussed the need to uproot social evils like sex selective abortions to prevent women from getting extinct.

In the end was an awareness creating exhibition to put forward the social message to save girl child.
