Chakan (Maharashtra): Women form about half the population of the country, quite a substantial section, yet their situation remains grim in the name of socio-cultural practices, seeking special treatment. In metro cities like Maharashtra, in spite of innumerable initiatives to conduce status recovery, women continue to fall prey to outrage of their modesty. Beginning the drive to inject gender inclusive approach from one district to another in the aforesaid state, Santulan Chakan team has begun to conduct a progressive campaign of advocacy sessions with women, across the district, at regular intervals, edifying them to be educated & aware of their rights and realize self-worth. The session consists of an enlightening lecture by Sadhvi disciples of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji on gender based issues, some ice-cracking activities to measure the gravity of discrimination and Q/A session to counsel attendees on prejudiced approach. The vision is to reach out to masses through small target groups and widespread the message of holistic empowerment through spiritual awakening.
Envisaging the same in mind, an awareness creating session was organized with about 30 women at A/p Kuchi, Th. Kavthe Mahakal, District, Sangli on 5th May to disseminate knowledge about women rights and need of it execution to re-attain their lost glory. The program comprised of the following:
- An awakening discourse was organized by Sadhvi Magalya Bharti to discuss society’s collective consciousness, in light of which women are subjugated and made victim of domination and discrimination
- Sadhvi Kirti Bharti, through illustrations, shed light on the patriarchal system of society that prohibit women from changing their status from powerlessness to that of power
- A Q/A session to condition and heal the corrupt mindsets and counselling participants on how to deal with day to day gender based challenges
