Walk for Swabhiman in Haryana on International Women’s Day

At the global level, International Women's Day represents an opportunity to celebrate & appreciate the achievements of women while calling for equality amongst the two genders. This International Women's Day, DJJS under its gender equality program - 'Santulan', has launched a campaign named "SWABHIMAN" with the intent to reinstate lost glory of womanhood. Under this campaign, a variety of programs like rallies, awareness drives & exhibitions, consultative conferences, lectures and series of mega events of Annual Santulan Awards are being conducted across the nation.

A Mass sensitization rally was organized by DJJS Haryana at the Community Centre in Sec.17 of Jagadhari, Yamunanagar on March 8, 2015 with about 470 participants to stir up the opinions of thousands in the context of value for girl child. Throughout the 2-hours rally, the participants exclaimed slogans to save girl child and value women and were holding banners & placards as the means of awareness generation.

After the rally culminated at the point from where it started, ‘Annual Santulan Awards' event was organized at the venue. The chief guest Sh. S.S. Phulia, DC of Yamunanagar and Sh. Prem Chand, SDM of Jagadhari awarded the women icons of empowerment. The list of awardees is as - Dr. Mansi Abhori for giving free dental checkup to 10000 children, Dr. Indu Kapoor, an eye surgeon but has dedicated her full time medical assistance to the underserved section of society, Smt. Preeti Johar, Nigam Parshad, Smt. Seema Sharma, social worker working on female feticide, Smt. Anju Vajpai, runs an NGO called 'Utthaan' for the blinds.

Disciples of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, Sadhvi Minakshi Bharti Ji delivered a thought provoking lecture on the importance of women in social and economic development of the nation and Swami Gurugyananand Ji presented the closing note. Swami Ji also gave an outline of other social initiatives of DJJS being carried out all over the world under the guidance of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji.
