The blaze ignited by the launch of ‘Tu hai Shakti’ campaign-nationwide women empowerment drive against sex selective abortions, has got its direction from the training of trainers workshops organized in 8 prescribed target states, wherein state ambassadors, branch preachers and volunteers were educated and equipped with all the essential tools required to attain the laid objective. Soon after completion of this first phase of the campaign, the volunteers are brimming over with enthusiasm to work & contribute for welfare of entire womanhood. The progression of activities under the campaign are taking the nation heed by storm and reaching out to multitude to sensitize against sex-selective abortions.

Here is a brief of the awareness programs conducted, many more to join the list:

Nehru Place: An accession to it was made by DJJS Nehru Place branch as they conducted an interactive session on 23rd July at B P Singh Camp, Tughlakabad, wherein about 80 women were called from nearby slum, discuss their take on status of women today and thus understand the dire need of redefining 'empowerment' to re-attain lost womanhood glory. The workshop began with an enlightening discourse by Sadhvi ji to bring in light various rights of women, which are otherwise ignored willingly or unwillingly, and further encourage to exercise the same. She also accentuated various handicaps that a woman is struggling with today irrespective of her educational/economic/social status, which unveiled and accentuated 'spiritual awakening' as the missing link in holistic women empowerment. Post the lecture was an inspiring song on the theme 'Beti' presented by one of the women participants narrating the roles played by a daughter selflessly all her life.

Vishnu Garden: An awareness workshop was organized by DJJS Vishnu Garden at the branch premises on 10th July 2016 with about 62 women participants from nearby areas of Vishnu Garden, Chand Nagar, Subhash Nagar,Tilak Nagar,Raghubir Nagar,Nihal Vihar to disseminate knowledge about the issue of sex selective abortions and motivate them to league together in the drive. The workshop inclusions were education on gender based jargons, a group discussion on increasing crime against women and a thought provoking skit by female volunteers to showcase various forms of discriminations that a girl encounters at every stage of life. It was followed by an enlightening discourse by Sadhvi Ranjeeta bharti ji on redefining empowerment of women for her holistic elevation. Another interesting activity-'brain on wheel' was conducted wherein a quiz was held with the questions related to famous women from ancient times and the audience was asked to form groups and answer by joining the letters provided in a bowl and pasting it on the board.

Jodhpur: DJJS Jodhpur branch began the drive of awareness and reached Bala ji Nagar on June 9, 2016 to create awareness against female feticide. An awareness program was conducted with about 20 ladies from nearby areas including Ganesh Nagar and Sangariya Fata wherein Sadhvi ji interacted with the participants about the causes and consequences of female feticide, taking instances from recent news related to crime against women particularly in Rajasthan. A self-explanatory skit was presented by volunteers to portray how a female fetus is brutally killed behind closed doors, gradually building a dark future for generations to come. The discussion was concluded with a pledge by every participant to break silence and voice against the menace of female feticide. Mass distribution of Santulan pamphlets having several gender centric facts and statistics was also done.

Rohini Sec-15: With the vision to disseminate what was learnt in training and thus further sensitize thousands, DJJS Rohini team, after training in New Delhi, organized an awareness program on June 26, 2016 with 50 women participants at A-Block, MN Convent Juniors School, Sec-18, Rohini. An awakening lecture was delivered by Sadhvi Mridula Bharti discussing the continuously deteriorating status of women, quoting gender statistics and case studies. She emphasized on empowering woman at 3 levels-body, mind and soul, by means of a presentation. Sensitization tools like dance ballet portraying women power, skit portraying scenario without women, video clips showing various forms of crime etc. were used. A sensitizing exhibition on Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji’s philosophy and clarification of myths against women was arranged after the program.

Dwarka: A gender sensitization workshop was conducted by DJJS Dwarka branch on 12th June 2016 at Dwarka Ashram sec-1 to sensitize towards the increasing crime against women and encourage to be vocal about it. The workshop started with the registrations thereby taking record of the participants. Thereafter was an awakening discourse putting forward the existence of gender biasness even today, the so called modern society. A presentation was given by Sadhvi Manisha Bharti ji to explain in brief the common terminology used when it comes to gender sector, followed by a group discussion session on same. The program was graced by the presence of Ms. Sushma Chopra, AGM of MTNL as the chief guest. After the awareness creating presentation and activities, the chief guest presented her views on the initiative of DJJS in form of Tu hai Shakti Campaign. She also discussed the works done at government’s end in the same regard. In the end, groups were made among the participants who will further reach out to throngs to establish value for girl child.
