प्रेय में मग्न या श्रेय की लगन?

अवसर बार-बार दस्तक नहीं देता!

अर्थशास्त्र में हर एक अवसर से जुड़ा एक मूल्य होता है, जिसे कहते हैं अवसर लागत मूल्य। यदि आसान शब्दों में समझना चाहें, तो यह वो मूल्य है जो हम खो देते हैं यदि हम प्राप्त मौके का लाभ नहीं उठा पाते। जैसे, मान लीजिए, आपके पास मौका है, सेल में 30 किताबों को 1200 रूपये में खरीदने का। परन्तु आप समय रहते सेल का लाभ नहीं उठा पाते। और बाद में वहीँ 30 किताबें आपको खरीदनी पड़ती हैं, 1500 रूपये में। यहाँ पर अवसर लागत मूल्य है, 1500-1200= 300 रूपये। ठीक इसी प्रकार जीवन में आए प्रत्येक अवसर को खो देने की भी एक कीमत होती है। और इसका मोल चंद रुपयों से नहीं आँका जा सकता। कभी- कभी तो एक अवसर खोने का अर्थ होता है, जीवन क…

Meditation-Improved Mental Focus and Attention Span

People are well aware of the benefits of toning the physical body. But for some reasons, biased or unbiased, the prospects of working out at the mental gym to sharpen our minds is still greeted with great skepticism. An increasing number of research studies are now working to find definite evidence in this respect, and many have been instrumental in dispelling such doubts existing in the minds of people. … “Meditators have stable brains and stable thoughts.” The study published in the Journal of Neuroscience suggestibly concludes that “the brain functions of people regularly practicing meditation are altered, which leads to the improvement of their mental focus and attention span.” … The study discovered that meditation not only enables one to change patterns in the brain, but also leads to improved cognitive performance, conferring an advantage in focusing a task mentally. The meditator group was compared to a control group who never meditated, but was of the same age and similar educational background to eliminate any bias in the study. … Meditators did the task better than non meditators by spotting more target sequences and with fewer false alarms. Is This World Real?

“The world that we live in is an illusion.”- One can find this assertion appearing very prominently in our scriptures and being propounded by the saints and sages of the past. However, in the present era of science, logics, facts and practicality, it being the 21st century, if you are asked to comment upon this statement as ‘true’ or ‘false’, what would be your answer? … However, we need to ponder upon one essential aspect here. When we say that we practically see and observe everything in this world, so it cannot be called an illusion; then, this aspect loses its credibility to ensure a one hundred percent authenticity in our conclusion as can be cited through various examples. For instances, we see the sun rising in the sky everyday in the east and setting in the west. It’s such an obvious observation, isn’t it? But, despite what is so clearly apparent, the proven fact is that the sun is stationary. … But, if we look from a scientific perspective, then, the fact is that even the revelations of science today testify that this world is not as we see it. Here we need to understand that when it is said that this world doesn’t exist.
