Inspirations from France

Skills Nurtured and Groomed The world’s first artificial heart transplant took place in December 2013 at the Georges Pompidou Hospital in Paris. French surgeons also have the honour of performing the first face transplant in 2005. The idea to use sealed glass jars placed in boiling water in order to preserve food in 1809 was given by the ‘father of canning’- a French confectioner Nicolas Appert. The idea of another Frenchman, Pierre Durand came up to use tin cans later. Braille, the reading and writing system for the blind, was developed by Louis Braille from France. Stethoscope was first made by rolling up paper into a tube at a hospital in Paris in 1816, by the physician Rene Laennec. The world’s first hair dryer was patented by Alexandre-Ferdinand Godefroy in 1888. The popular game Etch- a-Sketch came up in the 1950s after a translucent transfer from a light switch plate was peeled by the French electrical technician Andre Cassagnes and he found that his pencil marks still remained on the underside, due to the electrostatically charged metallic power. The once tallest tower, the Eifel Tower, also came up in France. In this manner, France has been the hub of new ideas, inventions, etc. One can associate primarily the following factor with this aspect. The French believe in nurturing the creativity right from childhood. In order to motivate parents to hone the skills of their children, and not feel burdened to bear extra time or resources, France …

Ornaments

Jewelry is one of the main accessories of women's attire. Since ancient times, jewelry has been in vogue for the women folk. True, it is the means for representing the fashionable trends and style as in the modern times. However, besides that, the concept of jewelry comes with manifold purposes, which many of us might not be aware of. During the Vedic era, there were 36 essential ornaments, each to benefit a specific body mechanism. The affluent ones had it all; however, even the poor managed to wear the most common items. Many of those ornaments and jewels are not in common use these days. Essentially, the health benefits gained by wearing these ornaments include the following: ●   Stimulation of a particular nerve ●   Regulation of the blood pressure ●   Increase in the blood circulation Jewels/ ornaments are primarily made of gold, silver and bronze. Metals are good conductors of energy. Therefore, body heat remains under control. As a matter of fact, gold ornaments are preferred on the upper part of the body and silver ornaments on the lower part of the body. It is because, as per the scientific principles and norms, silver responds well to the earth's energy while gold reacts well with the body's energy and aura. Hence, silver is worn usually as anklets and toe rings, while gold is used to embellish the upper half of the body. Let's know in detail about the properties and benefits of gold and silver or…

Who Says Religion is Synonymous to Discord, Impracticality, and orthodoxy?

Throw a glance on the perspectives over religion of the great men of yore, who have been acclaimed as true intellectuals, great thinkers, ideal heroes, and iconic personalities- adored by the whole world even today! Unquestionably, after reading their distilled views about religion, you would be propelled to reconsider yours! A YOGI AND A SPIRITUAL REFORMER, YOGANANDA PARAMHANSA It is necessary to understand the meaning of religion  During his foreign visits, once, Yogananda Paramhansa enquired someone as to which religion he followed. A striking and rather surprising reply came, "Nothing in particular. I change churches according to convenience." Yogananda thus realised that to many, religion is simply a matter of either a family tradition or a social benefit or a moral habit. For them, there is no importance of religion in life. However, rectifying this approach of people, he used to say- "Those who are not seeking God as the paramount necessity of life do not understand the meaning of religion. Why do all people seek money? Because they are conditioned to the thought that money is essential to supply the things they need for their well-being. They don't have to be told this; they simply know it. Why then do most people not understand the necessity of knowing God? Because they lack discrimination..." Religion answers the mysteries of life In this context, Yogananda Paramhansa relates to an incidence from his life. He said that w…
