Balanced the World, Better the World

Balance, an ordinary seven letter word which according to the dictionary means, a situation in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions.  Balance plays a very important role when it comes to ingredients of your favorite dish while cooking, or equations in Chemistry or Mathematics, or when it comes to the balance point in a potentiometer or when it comes to balance in the population of a particular species in a habitat.

Here, it is noteworthy, that even an iota of carelessness or ignorance leads to a totally reverse state, that of imbalance. Recalling aforementioned examples, such imbalance could result in tasteless food in kitchen, and disasters in a chemistry lab or machinery of any industry.  However, the most important balance that needs to be maintained and that needs our attention is the balance in our society. Balance, which the world is striving for… Balance, which would lead our society to the state in which it is meant to be ideally…

Obviously there are a lot of parameters which are meant to be in equanimity so as to carve a balanced society. However, the most important, which does not focus on the materialistic values rather on the human values is the Gender Balance.

Unfortunately, in spite of having exemplary women like Shakuntala Devi, who is popularly known as the human computer, because of her tremendous calculating skills, or Junko Tabei, who became the first woman ever to scale the seven summits. Or Bernice Rubens, whose novel “the Elected Member”, made her the first woman to win the Man’s Booker Prize. Bhakti Sharma, who became first Asian and the youngest to create a swimming record in the waters of Antarctic or Arunima Sinha, who despite of losing her one leg, managed to scale the heights of Mt. Everest, Indra Nooyi, Dipika Pallikal, Tania Sachdev and many more… the world is still facing a dilemma; the women are fighting to be treated as equals.

Today the entire world is demanding Gender Balance… Gender Balance at workplace, in sports, in wealth, in rights. Balance is not something that will only keep all the members of the society equal, rather it is something that all the members of the society desire, that they aspire and most importantly, something that is the essence of our society, the state in which nature has its mean position.

This International Women’s day, Santulan desires to bring the society back to its mean position. Santulan aims at influencing lives of people and restrike the lost Gender Balance not just in numbers but in value, respect, regard and leadership too.
