Why should I eat right djjs blog

I remember the old primary school English lesson saying ‘Trespassers are not allowed’ but I still take a risk of entering your personal domain and ask you…

Are you the one who holds his stomach in the morning, feel cramps and constipation? Do you ever experience bloating in your stomach after having meals? Are ugly burps a part of your life? Hey, do you have a backache problem? Is your body going out of proportion even on having light food? Incase you have maximum yeses for these enquiries, I am sorry but you are suffering from a contemporary lifestyle side effect – Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

“IBS is the most common disorder diagnosed by gastroenterologists (doctors who specialize in digestive diseases or disorders) and accounts for up to 12% of total visits to primary care providers” says International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders. So where lies the root cause?

Grannies would point a gun on your junk food habits and taste buds. But don’t worry I am not going to terrorize you by bombarding list of do’s and don’t’s over you. Just an introduction to a new way of eating would take you out from the grip of unsophisticated symptoms disease, as I may call it – IBS.

All you need is a slight shift in just two aspects of your eating – Timings and Portions!

The Ayurvedacharyas say that undigested food keeps getting accumulated as reserves of thick viscous fluid and cause pain in back. Eaten food therefore must get digested properly and wholly. The jatharagni (intestinal fire) plays a crucial role in metabolism. It is at its peak of work efficiency during the time the Sun is up but the moment it is dark the intestinal fire also becomes dormant. So it is well suggested (a) to have a bumper lunch right at noon and (b) have light dinner before dusk. The food will get assimilated and create no irritation.

Secondly, instead of distorted portions of more of snack and less of staple; have proportionate food in small portions. The Ayurvedacharyas suggest (a) supplement your food with green leafy veggies and salads or fresh paneer and (b) chew each bite thirty two times. This will lessen the intake of food and moreover make it readily digestible.

You, then, become slim, feel fresh, relaxed and more positive, have enhanced glow on your face and you look attractive.

Try it out!
