Eye care is a vital component of health care. Our eyes are necessary for performing our daily tasks. Any vision problem may cause us to rely on others. It has a huge impact on both our family and community.
According to the National Blindness and Visual Impairment Survey conducted by AIIMS, many people in India are affected by some form of vision loss that impacts individuals, families, communities, and the broader economy. To reduce this impact, DJJS Aarogya has collaborated with R.P Centre (AIIMS), New Delhi to ensure that the patients who belong to the marginalized section of society receive the highest standard of care and free eye care OPD services.
Eye care camps held for the year August 2023 to September 2024 at Divya Dham Ashram saw a remarkable turnout and provided crucial services to hundreds of patients. The services offered and the number of beneficiaries are as follows:
- Eye Screening and Early Detection: 5,837 patients were screened for various eye conditions, allowing for early detection and timely intervention.
- Cataract Surgery Referrals: 635 patients were identified and referred for cataract surgery, a critical step in preventing blindness in many cases.
- Other Eye Disease Referrals: 530 patients were referred for treatment of other eye diseases, ensuring they received the necessary medical attention.
- Total Refractions Conducted: 2,559 patients underwent refraction tests to determine the necessary corrective measures.
- Spectacles Prescribed: 2,200 patients were prescribed spectacles to correct vision impairments, improving their quality of life.
These free camps are held every Monday at the Primary Eye Care Camp (PEC), located at Divya Dham Ashram, Delhi. This camp marks a significant effort to enhance accessibility to eye care services, particularly for the underprivileged sections of society. In order to help people achieve better health, DJJS Aarogya is committed to providing helpful healthcare services.
