Reaffirming the same, DJJS Nurmahal undertook Tree plantation and Sapling Distribution drive on Guru Poornima 2017. Thousands of DJJS associates from all across Punjab who assembled for Guru Poornima event were sensitized on the importance of trees and were motivated to plant trees.
Administrative custodians of Punjab namely, Sh. Vijay Sampla, MOS Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, India; S. Lal Singh, Chairman Mandi Board & Ex. Finance Minister, Punjab; Sh. Sunil Jyoti, Mayor, Jalandhar; S. Gurupratap Singh Wadala, MLA Nakodar; Sh. Tikshan Sood, Ex- Forest Minister Punjab; Sh. Som Prakash, MLA Phagwara; S. Balbir Singh Sidhu, MLA S.A.S Nagar; Sh. Balwinder Singh Ladi, MLA Sri Hargobindpura, Gurdaspur; Sh. Kashmiri Lal Khanna, RSS Leader; Sh. Rakesh Rathor , Vice- President, BJP, Punjab; Sh Sunil Dutti, MLA Amritsar; S. Inderbir Singh Bolaria, Chief Parliamentary Secretary of Punjab; Sh. Arun Narang, MLA Abohar and S. Sadhu Singh Dharmsot, Minister for Forest, Printing & Stationary, Welfare of SCs & BCs, also joined the drive to mark their support for conservation and greening of planet.
A total of 1200 saplings of herbal plants including neem, peepal, tulsi etc. were planted on the occasion.This special tree plantation and sapling distribution drive is undertaken annually by DJJS Sanrakshan during the rainy season as a part of traditional Indian tree festival, Van Mahotsav.
