Agra: Here, the number of incidents of drug abuse amongst school children is on the rise in comparison to previous years. More and more teenagers seem to be addicted to alcohol, tobacco, injections, thinners, petrol fumes etc. last year itself the officials had successfully seized 105,173 tonnes of illegal drugs over this period and if world drug reports are to be believed nearly 18% of the world’s population in the 15-64 age group, India is a prime market for drug abuse.
Observing such a grave situation, in the various areas of Agra such as balkeshwar, karkoli and Kankar Kheda, bunch of effective awareness programs like awareness rallies, poster making competitions and awareness workshops were productively organised under the banner of Bodh – the Drug Abuse Eradication Program of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan founded/mentored by His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj ji. Various eminent personalities of the area also took active participation to take the message forward in their respective constituencies. More than 800 people in 3 villages got benefitted and pledged for living a drug free life.
The events were highly appreciated by the masses. Further in the coming months too, programs have been booked in order to take the message of prevention forward to each and every corner of the city.
