To commemorate World No Tobacco Day 2014, on 31st May 2014, Bengaluru, DJJS, initiated an Anti Tobacco Drive- I Decide under the banner of Bodh- the Drug Abuse Eradication Program of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan. This drive changed the air around the mega departmental store,"Reliance Fresh" when the team of Bodh chose it as ,its target area, for the drive as it could easily connect them to the general public.
The main aim of this drive was to spread awareness amongst the common people about the "Prevalence of Tobacco and its use in the society” and to motivate them to live a "Drug Free Life". To achieve this aim and to communicate the message successfully amongst the masses, these young volunteers of the organization introduced a variety of awareness activities throughout the day including batch distribution, signature campaign, one to one counseling, information counters, pledge etc.
The event began with a number of One to One counseling sessions wherein the dedicated volunteers left no stone unturned to spread the message across people. Later, the concept of "Say No To Drugs" batches attracted many people to the information counter where they were shown the gravity of the problem and realizing it they pledged to take a stand against this evil and registered their support via the signature campaign. Many people registered themselves for further counseling sessions. By the end of the day, the entire team received an excellent response from the people and hence the drive accomplished its aim successfully.
This drive, made a special impact on the youth who very well understood the expanse of the issue and were determined to take up their share of responsibility towards the well being of the society. As a matter of fact, many of them were inquisitive about the future projects of Bodh and expressed their willingness to contribute in them.
The event ended on a very positive note where hundreds of people were encouraged to fight this problem of "Drug Abuse" in the society. The efforts of the volunteers, to make this drive a success was appreciated by all. As a matter of fact, one of the passerby said " I salute Shri Ashutosh Maharaj ji, the founder of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan under whose guidance the Youth today has selflessly stood up to bring a positive change in the society".
