Celebration of Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti @ Manthan SVKs

The festival of Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated in the all Manthan SVK centres on 14 April 2018. Baisakhi, is a seasonal festival and is celebrated to mark the arrival of harvest season. It is popularly celebrated in the parts of Punjab. But students in all SVKs celebrated the spirit of this vibrant and vivid festival with joy and fun. Students were told the importance of celebrating Baisakhi and the story of Panj Pyare, the disciples of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, was narrated by the teacher. The colourful culture of Punjab was portrayed by some students through dance performances. Whereas, Ambedkar Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was celebrated by Manthanities on the same day. Baba Saheb, as he is commonly known, was a social reformer of independent India who worked against all odds to eradicate social inequality in India i.e., the caste system. Teachers taught the students about his remarkable contribution in framing the entire Indian Constitution after independence. They also learned the fundamental rights and duties of every citizen of India as stated in the Constitution of India.

Students learned from his life how he used education as a tool to rise above the ordinary and worked hard to achieve Excellency in several fields to become one of the great leaders of modern India and the chief architect of the Indian Constitution.
