This conference is of utmost significance, on account of the gravity of the problems and issues, cropping out of drug abuse or addiction and it's illegal trafficking in the society, especially, amongst the youth. As much as the gateway drugs like alcohol and tobacco use is rising, so is the use of deadly drugs, such as, heroine, cannabis, opium etc. So far, 43.9% of its users are found using heroine in Uttar Pradesh, owing its success to easy availability at every nook and corner of the state.

In 1917, Mahatma Gandhi, while addressing the All India Social Service Conference in Calcutta, had said:

Conference on ‘Significance of Awareness on Drug Abuse’ held at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh

That's what the state of Uttar Pradesh is witnessing today. With which, such hazardous consequences shall further result into serious hampering of socio-economic growth and multi-dimensional development of the country. In which case, the topics for discussion of this conference provide provocative mental exercises to discernly find a solution to this cataclysm. Swami Arjunanand Ji, disciple of His Holiness, Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, Head & founder, Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, who is also coordinating the Branch Office at Gorakhpur, delivered a profoundly sensitizing speech, while giving solutions on ‘how inculcating values in students since inception can diminish theirs inclination & psychology to experiment with drugs’.
