Grades do not define one’s worth. A single sheet of paper and 3 hours cannot decide one’s future. While exams are an integral part of our education system and play a big role in the learning process, marks sometimes become the yardstick for one’s complete worth and intelligence quotient. This puts a lot of stress upon the students who then focus more on gaining marks rather than gaining knowledge. Test anxiety can make it difficult to succeed, no matter how well you understand the material.

Dealing with Exam Anxiety | Manthan-SVK’s Workshop for its Alumni

Manthan-SVK which is an initiative under Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, working relentlessly for the children of underprivileged sections of the society. At Manthan, we also emphasise on life skills, mental health, nutrition and spiritual growth of students. An important part of mental and health and life skills becomes helping the children tackle exam anxiety. In wake of this, Manthan SVK conducted a workshop on “Overcoming Exam Anxiety” on 9th January 2021 from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm for Manthan Alumni. Sadhvi Shivani Bharti Ji, Preacher, Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, was the students’ mentor for the workshop.

Sadhvi Ji explained the effects of anxiety during exams on one’s mental health. Students have negative and self-deprecating thoughts before exams. She presented this with the help of informative videos which the students could relate with. Sadhvi Ji practically explained the capacity and flow of information in the neurons of the brain with the help of a interesting activities. She explained the science behind it with practical examples for understanding.

She also shed some light on the life of Swami Vivekananda who is considered as a youth icon and shared his life experiences to stress upon the power of concentration to help achieve our goals. One of the reasons for anxiety during exams is inability to manage our time. Sadhvi Ji shared some time management strategies to prepare for the exams. She also shared many valuable suggestions and motivating ideas in order to overcome exam anxiety.
