Last year, Delhi was given the entitlement of ‘chamber of lethal gases, which has disadvantageously made it mandatory for children to visit the doctors frequently for respiratory complications owing to the degree of increasing level of pollution in the city and also due to how children are compelled to inhale unwanted and intoxicating smoke continuously oozing out of smokers both at their homes and out in the open premises. As they being the most vulnerable section of human existence, eventually plunge into the trap of passive smoking easily and unknowingly, fall sick and are reportedly having to pay the highest price in terms of health issues. Moreover, because of their inquisitive phase, they are often seen to be trying with cigarettes in dark and dingy areas under the influence of their friends, which further increases such adverse effects manifold. One of the studies which has recently been conducted has shown  21% of the city’s children with poor lung capacity and another 19% fared as “bad lungs” and approximately one in three kids across the nation have been diagnosed with weaker lungs capacity and which is factually a grim issue to be dealt with immediately and specially.

So, witnessing the same problem around, under the stewardship of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, the above mentioned branch centre has decided to aware the children of these two communities comprising of patparganj and Gokul puri. In the first phase of the event, all the participants were given an insight into the problem of tobacco consumption through videos, presentations and pla cards for their better understanding of how intoxicating substances affect their body, mind and psychology. And in another phase, they were asked to draw their own understanding of the issue with the given charts and painting colors.  Headed by Sadhvi Chaitanya Bharti Ji, disciple of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji and the branch coordinator of the East Delhi Centre, a team of enthusiastic volunteers worked hand in hand in terms of one to one counselling, conversation and in handling the queries of the participants during the making of posters.
