More than 285 million people are estimated to be visually impaired worldwide, of this one third i.e. as large as 15 million people live in India (WHO Visual Impairment and Blindness, 2013). They spend each day in struggle, dejection, and lack of opportunities. Strikingly 80% of this blindness is curable. For 62.4% this blindness is attributed to cataract which is very much curable. Corneal disorder, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and refractive error are other common vision ailments that are curable if diagnosed timely.
