They say there is no stopping her once she decides her aim and starts to fly. Persistently, women in every era have showcased remarkable performances and became benchmarks for generations. Yet she struggles today for not privileges, but mere right to survival and dignified life. DJJS, with the divine inspiration of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji (Head & Founder of the organization), is an institution that itself witnesses majority of operational management of its socio-spiritual programs by Sadhvis (female disciples). Further, it recognizes the successful deeds of women in society every year by adding a feather in their caps called ‘Santulan Award’. For the 8th time in a row, DJJS, under its gender equality initiative ‘Santulan’ is carrying out 8th Annual Santulan Awards in 7 regions of the country viz, Maharashtra (Chakan), Haryana (Ambala), Punjab (Amritsar), Uttarakhand (Dehradun), Uttar Pradesh (Meerut), Madhya Pradesh (Gwalior) and Rajasthan (Jaipur), accrediting women for their impeccable performances in several social spheres. Gwalior city had its award ceremony on March 25, 2017 at Sanskriti Garden, Gole Ka Mandir, Gwalior with approximately 1800 attendees from different social sectors.

The panel of guests to honour these iconic women contained Shri Vivek Narayan Shejvalkar (Mayor, BJP, Gwalior) being the chief guest with Dr. Lovely Sharma (Vice Chancellor-Raja Mansingh Art and Music University) as the guest of honor. Present among other dignitaries were Dr. J.N Sharma (Retd. Senior Civil Surgeon, District Hospital, Murar), Dr. P.K Dubey (Senior Scientist Officer, Phorensic Lab Gwalior), Dr. Hemshankar Sharma (State Co-ordinator, NSV Center Gwalior), Ms. Anjali Batra (Zonal President, Jiwaji Club Gwalior), Ms. Raj Laxami Agrawal (Ex-President, Rotary Club), Mr. Subhashendu Srivastava (DGM, SBI) and Ms. Neelam Jagdish Gupta (Ex-President, Sanskar Bharti).

Women who have showcased exemplary performances in their respective fields were shortlisted and further nominated for awards by the organization jury. The list incorporated personas like Prof. Ranjana Tonpe (Lecturer, Raja Mansingh Art and Music University), Mrs. Rekha Agrawal (Deputy Director, women and child development dept. in Gwalior Division), Ms. Anupama Singh Sikarwar (Bureau Chief of Gwalior), Ms. Alka Srivastava (Founder Chairperson, Laxami Bai Mahila Nagrik Sahkari Bank), Dr. Rashmi Gupta (District Co-ordinator, IAP mission Uday), Smt. Rekha Dhaulkhandi (Social Worker, Empowerment of slum women), Smt.Saraswati Bhaleraao (Social activist- Working for deaf-mute), Dr. Anjali Gyanani (Lawyer- Gwalior High Court), Mrs. Kamna Singh (Social activist), Ms. Mamta Narendra Singh (Legal Member, District Consumer Forum) and Dr. Rama Singh (President- Sanskar Bharti Guna).

The evening began with began with lamp lighting by the honorable chief guest, followed by Durga Stuti by zealous volunteers. A spell binding skit on the theme -'21st century Vedic Women’, whose creation is the vision of Santulan initiative, was presented. Further, an inspirational lecture was delivered by Sadhvi Jaivani Bharti Ji to discuss the endless success tales of women achievements, in spite of the least opportunities and deprivation of resources they receive. She also laid emphasis on the need for women to be, not just educationally and economically, but also spiritually empowered and united in order to rise above the present scenario and re-instate women majesty. She reiterated that women themselves will have to become the torch bearers to bring about gender revolution. Thereafter, each awardee was honoured with 8th Annual Santulan Award and being the token of appreciation, followed by a group photo.

In the end was an exquisite dance ballet-'Kali avtaar'. Further, along with high tea, an exhibition was put up to display organizations’ illuminating publications and initiatives in regards to social evils. Being a socio-spiritual organisation headed and founded by His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, it is working globally for the establishment of universal brotherhood and peace through its varied social reforms and welfare programs, focused on prevalent societal issues.
