This time the roads of East Delhi witnessed a protracted trail of youth, standing upright, confident, not seeking for some snatched right from themselves but for a cause of Drug Abuse, which has shaken the foundation stone of our country that is youth. Despite the scorching rays shelling from the sun on their heads they unflinchingly walked through more than 8 kms of path starting from V3S Mall covering heavy footfall areas like Vikas Marg, Laxmi nagar, Khureji Rasheed Market, Chandar Nagar, Lal Quarter, Krishna Nagar and 60 Foota Road, Vishvas Nagar as the culminating point.

Mr. O. P Sharma, MLA, Vishvas Nagar, Mr. B. B. Tyagi, Chairman, EDMC East Zone and Sw. Sumedhanand Ji, disciple of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, head and founder of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, inaugurated the rally along with motivational speech by all.

“Combined efforts are needed to raise awareness among people, particularly the youth and students for prevention of drug addiction which has emerged as a major issue in the society”, exhorted Swami Sumedhanand ji, representative, DJJS.

More than 800 volunteers walked down all the streets, literally covering heavy foot fall in order to take the message of ‘say no to drugs’ to every nook and corner in the city. During the Walk, DJJS skit team enacted a street play at every 1 kilometer to give detailed clarity on how the devil of drug is spreading its bloody wings to swallow the lives of people.

In order to add flavor and attract people towards the subject of the event, a scene of ‘Yama and his four horses’ was enacted by the volunteers to demonstrate how Yama; the lord of death has sent his four demon horses to earth in the form of Alcohol, Smoking, Drugs and tobacco, in order to gulp down the life of their users.

Small children holding a pyre, with a cigarette laid on the top, attracted the eye of the onlookers the most, which we attempted in motivating people to take out the last journey of cigarette from their life and say good bye to it forever.

They also motivated people to give up their lighters, match sticks, cigarette packets, Bidis, Khaini, Pan Masala, Hukka etc and encouraged them to resolve this Diwali not to consume these life-sucking products throughout their life again.

Almost 10,000 people from all walks of life benefitted from the rally and innumerous among them were given pamphlets and were also dealt with personally, during one to one counseling sessions on the way. All the people appreciated the efforts of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan under the banner of ongoing BODH CAMPAIGN running in Delhi.
