According to NFHS (National Family Health Survey), 3 out of 5 children are malnourished.
Also due to the indigent economic conditions and lack of health awareness in parents, health is not the primary thing to be taken care of as they struggle hard primarily to fulfill basic necessities. Most of the parents visit doctor only when the health problem majorly increases.
So the scenario calls for timely care and diagnosis to prevent health disorders. Therefore, organizing regular health check-up for Manthan children is one initiative of “Manthan-sampoorna vikas kendras” - Holistic Education Program of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, to provide healthcare services to meet the immediate health care needs of children in urban-rural slums offering curative and preventive measures.
A day’s health camp was organized at Manthan-SVK center of Suraj park, Badli, Rohini, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. wherein around 36 children were benefitted from this camp.
This camp was made successful by the voluntary contribution of Dr. A.D. Sachdeva and Dr. Bharti Arora. Dr. Sachdeva also provided tips on maintaining hygiene ‘brushing and bathing daily’ and the benefits of a balanced diet. Few of the students were diagnosed with anemia and were given medicines accordingly.
Teachers called parents for follow up and asked them to take the children for referral check-up by teachers. Parents were happy to see their ward’s improving health standards and thanked Manthan SVK for its support.
Dr. Sachdeva was immensely impressed with the concept of ‘Holistic Development’ of Manthan SVK program and appreciated the efforts.
