Having broadened its scope, Manthan now embarks on a new initiative to elevate the academic level of those children who are not the direct beneficiaries of Manthan-SVKs. The parents can’t afford their education as they live below the poverty line (BPL) stratum of our society.

The recent collaboration between Manthan and a Canadian organization, Women’s Empowerment International Foundation (WEIF) marked the beginning of this remarkable initiative in Bihar, India. WEIF would fund the education of ten children who want to pursue X, XII, Graduation, and Vocational Courses for the year 2014-15, which may be extended further depending on their progress. Among the ten children, there are four students who will be supported for their school fees as they belong to play school, LKG and third standard respectively.

Manthan also strives to enhance the academic skills of ten of its SVK teachers in four centers of Bihar. All the enrollments for children and teachers would be made in Nalanda Open University, Saharsa, Bihar and SIYA-ITI College, Saharsa, Bihar, for the year 2014-15.
