The world is evolving quickly and with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI), our everyday activities can now be carried out effectively. AI is no longer a thing of science fiction, it exists in the world all around us. AI refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed and mimic their actions. Future era is the era of AI and we need digitally skilled youth, as youth is the backbone of every society. India has the world’s largest youth population and without a doubt, it will be one of the superpowers leading the world with the power of AI.
In this endeavour, The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in collaboration with INTEL organised the 'AI for Youth' Virtual Symposium from 13th October, 2020 to 17th October, 2020 for students of Class 8th and above, and Principals and Teachers of all schools across India.
Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Manthan SVK- a holistic education program of DJJS, is working relentlessly for providing education to the underprivileged children of urban slums and remote villages. In this light, Manthan SVK utilised the opportunity to enhance the Artificial Intelligence Skills of Manthanites and digitally prepare them for other emerging technologies.
The event was graced with the presence of world renowned Global leaders, and National and International speakers. They shared their experiences and views on Artificial Intelligence, talked about the importance of AI skill sets for the future workforce and explained how one can leverage these skills for a successful career. The Virtual Symposium was joined by more than 110,000 people from 67 countries. CBSE HQ and INTEL India set the Guinness World Record for delivering a virtual lesson on AI to 130,00 students in 24 hours.
In the inaugural ceremony, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ (Honourable Minister of Education, Govt. of India) addressed the symposium and shared his insightful thoughts on the relevance of AI for future generations. He talked about the “New Education Policy, 2020”, and said that India is the first country to have introduced AI in the school curriculum for class 8th from the year 2019. The participants learnt about AI Readiness skills, visited the showcase zone, interacted with the presenters, joined the experiential zone, attended live webinars, gained an immersive experience and witnessed AI social impact projects created by their peers. Manthan SVK teachers, students and volunteers zealously participated in the symposium. Participation Certificates were also given to all the participants.
Manthan SVK heartily congratulates CBSE & INTEL for the success of this mega event and expresses its gratitude for this great effort towards fulfilling PM Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
