As aptly said “Healthy mind stays in Healthy body”, if we ponder over this quote, the reverse is also so true; ‘A healthy body is possible only if our minds are healthy’. To achieve the holistic health, a workshop titled ‘Yoga and Meditation’ was conducted at Oving Hall, Alyesbury , UK. The event was conducted by the UK branch of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) on March 28, 2015 from 10:00 hours to 13:00 hours. DJJS is a socio-spiritual organization dedicated to the service of human kind and aspires for world peace. As the title suggests, the locus of the event was to create awareness about basics of Yoga and its relevance at physical, mental and spiritual level. A right meditation technique along with Yoga helps one to achieve holistic health.
Sadhvi Bhakti Priya Bharti and Swami Kabir ji from Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, U.K. marvellously enunciated the meaning of YOGA in our lives. They explained that literal meaning of YOGA is to be in YOG, means to join and be one with your inner self. Mr. John Marshal and Ms. Emily Jones was the guests of the program. Both of them are proficient in YOGA and beautifully complemented the preaching by enacting the basics for the audience. The event was split into various sections:
- YOGA simplified: Different stages of YOGA (Laya, Karam, Gyan, Bhakti and Raj) was described and relevance of each one of them in today’s context was explained.
- REAL meditation: Amongst a plethora of meditation techniques prevalent around the world, relevance of Brahm-Gyan was explained and why is it the most superior forms of meditation.
- Spiritual songs
- Break-out session and energizer to keep up the interest levels
- Yoga ASANAS (postures)
- Basic meditation practice
In our day to day life, just the way you need a tool, a technique to do a particular task, similarly to see Divine light within and be healthy, one needs to learn and practice the technique of Brahm Gyan. Shri Ashutosh Maharaj ji – Founder and Head of DJJS always says “Brahm-Gyan is the birthright of all”. Preachers further explained that meditation is not simply closing of eyes but a technique where one establishes a connection with oneself instead of concentrating on any external object. Brahm Gyan provides you that technique that route you towards attainment of Divine Light. The attendees thoroughly cherished the whole session. After the session, individual interactions had also taken place. Various people said that in short time, Yoga and meditation session acted as a great stress buster. They are feeling light, balanced and at peace.
Preachers also emphasized the need of a perfect teacher as the key to understanding this route to Divine Light. Just the way we need a master in day to day life to learn anything new; be it studies or sports; similarly to learn and practice meditation, one needs to be surrendered at the feet of Perfect master. This ‘master-disciple’ relationship is the key to successful attainment of goal of holistic health. The response from the participants was ecstatic and the event was immensely successful since some participants were initiated in this technique of mediation as well.
