Project ‘BAATCHEET’ reaches schools to spread the word of prevention in Chowkha Village

In one way, chowkha Village can be called as the heart of Jodhpur for it is impregnates the innumerable mines, where people especially men folk utilize their heart and brain in order to receive their hard earned money which is approx. Rs 700 per day.  But, forlornly, not more than Rs 200 reaches their homes, for most of it gets invested in buying doses of opium to satisfy their habit of addiction, as a result of which, at homes, children suffer from bad parenting, lack of proper education and  they also witness cases of quarrels and domestic violence as they are aware of their reasons.  While countersigning, they are provided with the information like what all are the types of drugs, how these are consumed, where are their sources, so on and so forth indirectly.

Someone has very rightly said that children are like white cement; whatever falls on them makes an impression. Following in the same manner, the ironically assumed non-harmful aspect of drug abuse is ruining the purity of these children wherein they are learning the use of it without knowing its guaranteed harmful effects. So, observing the same, we under ‘ baatcheet’ campaign have already started our intervention in schools as well. We educate students about the injurious effects of drug abuse by means of talks, skits, demonstrations, posters and personal counseling sessions. We further inspire them to educate and alarm their family members for the same. In the series, the above mentioned school is one of the examples.

We are also running other community mobilization sessions, where women are also given knowledge on how to handle a drug addict partner and the section of youth are served with the timely and logical information through demonstration and experiments on how the abuse of intoxicants effects every being not only at one level but multi-dimensionally.
