Language is an important part of our lives. It is a unique gift given to humans which lets us communicate and differentiates us from animals. Language of a country defines it’s culture as well. Sanskrit has been an integral part of Indian culture. Importance of this language reflects very clearly in our history. “If I was asked, what the greatest treasure which India possesses is and what is her finest heritage, I would answer unhesitatingly that it is the Sanskrit language and literature and all that it contains. This is the magnificent inheritance and so long as this endures and influences the life of our people, so long will the basic genius of India continue. If our race forgot the Buddha, the Upanishads and the great Epics (Ramayana and Mahabharata), India would cease to be India.” This has been very well quoted by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji. Even the people from foreign origin realize the significance of Sanskrit language. Max Muller stated that “Sanskrit is the greatest language in the world”. To instill the importance of our ancient language in today’s children, Manthan-SVK has started Sanskrit classes in its centres. Manthan-SVK is an initiative by Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan which is working for the benefit of children of the underprivileged sections of our society.
