Jalandhar: International Women's Day is a good occasion to celebrate the progress and achievements of women as well as organizations working towards women safety and empowerment. With the same objective, Women & Child Development Department, Punjab organized a ceremony on March 14, 2015 at D.A.V. Engineering Institute in Jalandhar to accredit women of Jalandhar for walking an extra mile.

DJJS Santulan, being the reason and driving force behind many women achievers, was presented an award for the ceaseless endeavors and rigorous work done in the field of gender equality & women empowerment in Jalandhar.  Disciples of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji -  Sadhvi Radhika Bharti Ji and Swami Sajjnanand Ji graced the event as representatives of DJJS and Sadhvi Om Prabha Bharti Ji, as a gender expert from DJJS delivered a thought provoking lecture.

Followed by the lecture sensitizing participants over innate strengths of a woman, Sadhvi Ji also gave a brief of activities being run worldwide under the banner of Santulan with a main focus over  'Swabhimaan' that is the theme of the month long countrywide campaign undertaken by Santulan this International Women’s Day.

Dr. Rashmi Ji (Principal Police Of D.A.V. School), Sh. Narinder Singh (Deputy Director Jalandhar Doordarshan), Ajay Sehgal (Cheif Executive Officer), Sanjay Sharma Karate Champion (Founder of Sanjay Karate School), Savita Bhatola (Commandant BSF), Chitra Rekha Sharma (Indodeptian Police Department), Sulekha Bhagat (Councilor), Manju Sharma (Vice Principal CT Eng College), Minni Malhotra (Senior Manager Axis Bank), Kailash Kaur (Women Cell Deptt.), Ravi bhagat (Social activist), Inderjit Kaur (CDPO), Geeta Rani (CDPO), Amrik Singh (CDPO), Neelam Rani (CDPO) and Veena bhagat (CDPO) were also present amongst many eminent guests and dignitaries.  

After many invigorating speeches and musicals by experts, at the finale, Women & Child Development, Punjab presented awards to deserving women for their exemplary works and achievements and also awarded Santulan for its efficacious efforts in the said field.   

Santulan is the Gender Equality Program of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) working for the elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against women particularly sex selective abortions through its 2 pronged approach of Advocacy against Gender Based Discrimination (GBD) & Gender Based Violence (GBV) and holistic empowerment of women.
