West Delhi: Young women around the globe possess the collective power to change their own lives as well as the world we live in. Keeping this view forward, Santulan team conducted a Gender Sensitizing Workshop in Bharati College (University of Delhi), Janak Puri, New Delhi on March 27, 2019. The workshop primarily focused on prejudices based on Gender Stereotyping prevalent deeply in our society. Through diverse thought provoking sessions; a spirit of Self-Worth and true Empowerment was incited among the 200 participants thus enabling them to develop the ability to think and act analytically against Gender Injustices.

The workshop was taken over by Sadhvi Deepika Bharti Ji and Sadhvi Shyama Bhart Ji, disciples of HH Ashutosh Maharaj Ji (the Head & Founder of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan), along with a team of dedicated young female volunteers. The session started with the felicitation of the Preachers and the volunteers by the principal and the students of the college respectively; moderated by assistant professor, Ms. Anu Arora. Thereafter, a welcome note was presented by the Principal of the College, Dr. Mukti Sanyal. Henceforward, Sadhvi Deepika Bharti Ji delivered an enthusiastic speech to give an insight over the subject of subjugation and subordination of womenfolk. Sadhvi Ji held a Q&A session too with the Participants to make dig out their deep rooted ideologies and discover the challenges that women have to face in everyday life.

After the session the enthusiastic volunteers presented an eye-opening play – I’m a Woman; Is it a crime? The said piece of drama touched very sensitively the significant issues of gender inequality like female feticide, violence against women, decision making power and many more. After the play Sadhvi Ji discussed with the participants how gender stereotyping is prevalent in every stage of the journey of a woman’s life, right from choosing specific kind of toys like dolls and kitchen set for female kids to undervaluing women decision making capability etc etc. Sadhvi Ji added that, despite women are excelling in every aspect today the societal norms have not yet changed for them. Henceforth, presenting the ultimate solution, Sadhvi Ji demystified the spiritual and scientific factors behind the fearless empowering paragon of “Mahisasur Mardini”- how Goddess Durga was able to destroy the devilish mindset that underestimated her potential; and how the same empowerment can be established in the present times too to re-establish dignity of womenfolk. Sadhvi Ji added that, self-realization of one’s inner potential is the only key to actual eradication of all sorts of gender injustices.
