New Delhi: Women empowerment being the ultimate key to gender equality is also the mantra for the month of March every year because of containing International Women’s Day. Institute of Company secretaries of India (ICSI), in a similar drive to encourage and empower women, conducted a full day seminar on the theme “CS WOMEN: EMPOWERED & EMPOWERING” jointly with Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) of ICSI with eminent panellists, CS students and association members on March 8 at Airforce Auditorium, Subroto Park, Near Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi to observe International Women’s Day 2017.

To include the spiritual perspective in regards to empowerment of women and elevation of society, DJJS was called on board as a panellist to present their frame of reference and interpretation under their gender equality initiative ‘Santulan’ on the commonly used term ‘Women Empowerment’. Sadhvi Deepika Bharti, disciple of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj ji and global coordinator of Santulan represented DJJS at the ICSI seminar. Present among the panel dignitaries were CS Preeti Malhotra (Former President of ICSI), CS Manoj Kapoor (Director, Kapgrow Corporate Advisory Services), CS Vijaya Sampath (Senior Partner, Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan), Shri Vipul Srivastava (Advocate) and Dr. Roop Singh (Senior Faculty, Brahma Kumaris).

The seminar began with accrediting commentary by CS Monika Kohli to appreciate and motivate women for their incredible contributions to society, followed by sharing of success stories of female members of the association. Thereafter were informative technical sessions wherein panel members conferred their stance on women empowerment, its ingredients, how it can be materialized and what will be the associated merits.

Sadhvi Deepika Bharti elucidated the true meaning of empowerment with emphasis on the missing link of spiritual awakening that deprives an educationally and economically empowered women from being called as holistically empowered and makes her immune towards the ill-practices prevalent against women. She also quoted the case study of Goddess Durga and how her divinity and innate strength made her victorious over the demon Mahishasur and delivered her a tag of ‘Mahishasur Mardini’.

The enlightening talk created an empowering aura and left the audience spell bound.  Sadhvi Ji also mentioned Santulan’s initiatives in regards to the subject of the seminar, quoting example of Sadhvis (female sanyasins) disciples of Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji handling major operations of socio-spiritual programs of the organization. In the end, CS Sudarshan Tanjuni, senior member of ICSI presented a token of gratitude in the form of a memento to Sadhvi Ji.

The program witnessed approximately 1000 participants and was concluded with a group photo followed by high tea. The keen participants also sought counselling from Sadhvi Ji, not only in gender perspective but also in terms of dignity and character building. Immense interest of association and participation in socio-spiritual campaigns being run by the organization was also expressed by attendees as well as panellists.
