It has built up over years with the staunch support to myths, misconceptions and lame age-old prejudices against women. Punjab being the major celebrant of said festival, is conducting awareness programs adorned with traditional dance, sensitizing skit, enlightening lecture and various gender based activities across the state. Other North Indian states are carrying out diverse activities to ignite the spirit to save and nurture daughters. Puppet making craft workshops are being organized wherein participants are making save girl child puppets and further distributing them to neighbourhood areas, spreading message to value and welcome girl child. Another innovative effort to sensitize public is being made by poem recitation competitions wherein, participants gathered recite a poem highlighting importance and roles of daughters. Gifts and prices are also being distributed to couples gifted with a girl child in previous 1 year, as an encouragement to parent girl child. Apart from the before mentioned, sensitization workshops are being conducted all over to culminate the problem of female feticide and create value for women, thus paving the way for better future.
