Jodhpur: Observing this 27th year of International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking, DJJS under its Drug Abuse Eradication Program, Bodh organized sensitizing mass awareness programs at pan India level. In the series, under its ongoing campaign ‘Aware an Individual (AAI)’ designed for generating awareness on this day with regard to this subjectmatter of global concern, Jodhpur branch has organized a ‘Paint your India Drug Free’ competition for children coming from various communities.
Drug abuse is a complex socio-economic issue that requires multi-stakeholder and integrated approach towards securing drug free society. Children/youth communities, being the most vulnerable because of not being exposed to the variety of situations, strengthening of their faculty of discrimination plays an important part. Therefore, with such ‘Paint your India drug free’ competition, students were given a detailed one to one interaction and guidance to understand the issue and develop a feeling of negation towards it’s experimentation under all sorts of pressure.
About the Day:
The United Nations General Assembly in 1987 decided to observe 26 June as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking every year as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.
About the Project
Bodh- the drug abuse eradication program of DJJS, works for the elimination of drug abuse and eradication of drug demand through ‘Dhyan Therapy’ , thereby transforming the drug afflicted society into an abuse free society ; where people are mentally, emotionally and spiritually strong to safeguard themselves and the society against drug addiction and substance abuse.
