The Benevolence of Guru: Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

Sadhvi Aastha Bharti Ji, narrated the incident of Shri Krishna’s last conversation with Uddhav on being pierced at feet. Sadhvi Ji said that upon being asked by Uddhav about the reason of the manner in which Shri Krishna was dying, the latter recounted the words of Rishi Durvasa. Once Rishi Durvasa visited Shri Krishna at his palace in Dwarka. Shri Krishna welcomed Rishi by washing the latter’s feet. At this, Rishi Durvasa in a raging tone asked for a searing rice pudding. The pudding was brought as asked. Rishi tasted the pudding and then commanded Shri Krishna to apply it all over his body. Shri Krishna did the same but overlooked to do so for his feet. When Shri Krishna was done applying the pudding then Rishi smiled a little and blessed him with the boon that wherever he had applied the pudding on his body that part had become immune to death. This is the reason why he became destined to die because of his feet.

The Benevolence of Guru: Shrimad Bhagwat Katha at Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

This story is not just about the manner of Shri Krishna’s death, but also the love of a true Spiritual Master has for his disciple. A true Spiritual Master can see into the future and save his/her disciple from calamities. “However”, questioned Sadhvi Ji, “how does one know whether a Spiritual Master is true or not?” Sadhvi Ji answered this question by stating that the one who with his/her spiritual power can enlighten any seeker at any given time and show the Eternal Light within, that Spiritual Master is the true one. The word used to refer such a Spiritual Master is- Guru, and the word used to refer to inner awakening is - Brahm Gyan. Hence, it is important to have a Guru in one’s life if the person wishes to attain Brahm Gyan. Brahm Gyan opens the door to inner wisdom which leads the person on to the path of his/her spiritual advancement.

Sadhvi Ji, while concluding the Katha, urged the audience to seek a Guru who can enlighten them. In this regard, said Sadhvi Ji, DJJS will always remain a valid option for one and all.
