Antarkranti, a well-known social initiative of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan organized a special event for the inmates of Dehradun Jail, Uttarakhand on the festival of ‘Mahashivratri’, on February 17, 2015.  Around 500 inmates marked their presence with full enthusiasm for the 2 hour spiritual session.

The ‘Shiv Tatva’- Realizing the positive attributes within was restored among the prisoners

The zeal of prisoners, will of DJJS volunteers, support from the prison authority and the day being Shivratri created a very pleasant feeling & spread positivity all around. In the event, the focus was on disseminating the message lying behind celebrating this festival. The presumptions and misconceptions associated with the Lord Shiva like of him taking bhang, was clearly rebutted. The divine message of Lord Shiv being the destroyer of all ill practices was disclosed in front of the audience. They were motivated to get engrossed in divinity and know oneself. Lord Shiva’s appearance symbolizes the end of ignorance and the dawn of true knowledge and peace. The ash smeared on his body is a symbolic of everything being temporary in life except the ultimate soul- the real inner self.

The inmates were made clear that- "Your greatest self has been waiting your whole life, don't make it wait any longer." Stand up for change and reach your ultimate eternal destination.

The counseling session was held for about 2 hours in which inmates were facilitated to look for their strengths and overcome their weaknesses.
