As the month of July approaches, the ethos & fervour of Teej festival engulfs every woman and stuffs her with gaiety. The festival is celebrated with much more ardour as it lets a woman relish the pride of being a woman. DJJS Santulan, with a vision to extend the significance of festival from mere embellishments to women self-worth, commemorates Teej every year, particularly in Northern region of the country. This year, beginning from July 26 i.e. Hariyali Teej till August 24, 2017 i.e. Haritalika Teej, the festival is celebrated in the form of a month-long campaign with a vision to recognize and encourage women to value oneself, be conscious of her rights and step forward for attainment of nation’s development goals, through sensitization workshops.

With the fabric of empowerment, henna of enlightenment, swing of delight and fasting from household drudgery, DJJS Santulan has designed the workshop package to gift a smile to women and instil sense of self-realization. Apart from the public at large, the target group this year includes in specific the women volunteers of organization who, along with taking care of their respective families, are putting in their efforts to spread the message of women emancipation.

Beginning with a quick brief on Santulan, its on-going initiatives and ideology in regards to Teej, the workshop contains diverse tools to highlight role and importance of women. Along with dance performances infusing joy, enthralling forum theatre is being presented by volunteers shedding light on adverse situations that hinder a woman’s confidence, impose a suppressed life on to her and water the plant of subordination sown by her parents during childhood. An edifying lecture is delivered by Sadhvi ji to explain the potential of woman which she forgets too along with the society. The need of the hour says that woman needs to be conscious of her abilities and prowess, in order to get respected by society in return. Further, Sadhvi ji accentuated on spiritual enlightening that enables every individual to be righteous. Woman needs to voice for herself and rectification of corrupt mindsets that are responsible for her status demotion.

Various fun-filled activities are also organized as devices for recreation. As a part of tradition, swing is arranged after the workshop, a ride to which is a pledge to save girl child and raise voice against female feticide. A pledge wall is also set up where participants pen down their view point towards women status, feedback about the workshop and pledge to support the cause of women holistic empowerment initiated by Santulan. The campaign in successfully creating beneficiaries as well as peer educators to extend the benefit to deprived.
