Delhi has been a favourite spot for injecting drug users for the city provides anyone with every conceivable drug possible in the best suited rates, since the city has to prove its superiority for being the capital city of the third largest growing economy in the world. Ironically, the city has succeeded in doing so, for it impregnates a drug abuser as young as 9 years old that again puts the city into a zone of interrogation, for what the protecting forces which are run by public funds are doing in combating the problem.

Volunteers were trained for setting a ray of change in the communities of West Delhi against Drug Addiction

From the last speech that the prime minister gave during his man ki baat radio program, another angle has been highlighted which is how trafficking of the illegal and lethal drug is the main cause of pumping and financing the country with the incidences of terrorism. In the Late 90’s, with the example of Punjab agitation that directly and very clearly indicated the connection between the two, now ministry of home affairs have also tied its laces in chasing after the fast growing problem of drug abuse not only in the national capital but in the entire country as a whole. Therefore, seeing the plight of innumerable people, communities, villages constantly being visited during various ‘Delhi Visits Initiative’ taken up by the Drug Abuse Eradication Program (Bodh) of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan founded/mentored by His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj ji, the organization has kicked off a dedicated one year project in the capital on 30th January 2016, under which more than 40 volunteers were trained on the 26th of March, 2016 in community hall, Shadipur, New Delhi. Sadhvi Shitabha Bharti ji, the devotee disciple of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji and the Drug Abuse Eradication program In-charge ,  an expert on the subject profoundly discussed upon various terms and concepts such as use, misuse and abuse, addiction, dependence or toleration relating to the problem of drug abuse through power point presentations and videos. Further, another session was kindly taken up by a distinguished Mr. Deepak Yadav, an eminent trainer from AIIMS, Delhi wherein he highlighted upon some of the basic questions as in ‘why and how addiction is a psychological disease which is curable like any other disease’, also through activities and demonstrations, he highlighted upon the basic mandates of being a counsellor, which was well received by the participants.

A series of sessions will be conducted in continuation to the same so as to train the volunteers in each and every aspect related to the subject of the campaign ‘Utthaan’ for drug de-addiction in the territories of east and west Delhi.
