On September 29th, 2024, World Heart Day was observed globally. This year, Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS), through its Aarogya initiative, played a significant role in honoring the occasion. With the theme of “Swasth Hridaya, Sukhi Jeevan”, DJJS organized a grand event which included 17 health awareness sessions across India and globally, all focused on promoting heart health and increasing understanding of cardiovascular diseases. These events, attended by a total of 2072 participants, were led by distinguished cardiologists, who offered valuable insights on preventing and managing heart conditions.
Insightful talks
A key focus of the sessions was the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle in maintaining heart health. Speakers emphasized preventive strategies for coronary heart disease and underscored how simple lifestyle changes can make a profound impact on heart wellness. Engaging talks such as “Explore the Power of Your Heart” and “Understanding Your Heart's Efforts” provided attendees with a deeper understanding of how the heart functions and the importance of caring for it.
Various interesting activities for participants
The workshops were not just informative but also interactive. Participants engaged in activities like heart health quizzes, skipping, cycling, clapping exercises, and OM chanting, all of which received enthusiastic participation. These activities were designed to promote physical fitness while educating individuals on how these exercises can contribute to a healthier heart. The sessions also included enlightening exhibitions wherein the role of yoga, proper nutrition, and a balanced lifestyle were highlighted in preventing heart diseases.
Participants shared their own experience
One of the standout aspects of the event was the interactive discussions that allowed participants to share their thoughts and experiences on heart health. The details of the programs are as follows:
- A health workshop was held on 22nd September in Nagpur, Maharashtra, benefiting 305 people.
- On 29th September, a health workshop took place at Nehru Place, Delhi, with 300 beneficiaries.
- A health workshop was organized on 30th September in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, benefiting 209 people.
- On 29th September, a health workshop was held in Latur, Maharashtra, benefiting 270 people.
- A health workshop was conducted on 29th September in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, with 46 beneficiaries.
- On 29th September, two health workshops took place in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, benefiting 84 people.
- On 29th September, a health workshop was organized in Fresno, USA, benefiting 30 people.
- A health workshop was conducted on 1st October in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, benefiting 27 people.
- On 29th September, 84 people benefitted from two health workshops in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
- On 28th September a health workshop was organized in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, benefiting 200 people.
- Three health workshops were held on the 4th and 5th of October in Latur, Maharashtra, benefitting 87 people.
- Two health workshops were conducted in Chakan, Maharashtra, benefitting 430 people.
The sessions concluded with participants taking a pledge to lead healthier lives, committing to the principles of heart care they had learned throughout the day.
