The disaster stuck the Kedarnath and other areas of Uttrakhand on early morning of 16th June, 2013 and from 17th June, Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan’s Disaster Relief Program started its first Relief Base Camp in Srinagar Uttaranchal. Starting with providing food, shelter, daily supplies of tooth paste, tooth brush, buckets & mugs, soaps, and other amenities like blankets, woolens, tarpaulins, rain-coats, torches the camp is providing relief to 120 families of Srinagar and 7 villages which are accessible from the camp sending its volunteers to penetrate in to the areas which are not been accessed by any relief. With recent cloud burst took place in Paithani near Pauri on 25th June, a rescue and relief team was sent immediately to the area. Another team has approached Oakhimath which collapsed under another cloud burst today. The base camp at Srinagar is serving food, medicine, water and other supplies to around 2500 victims every day. More than 150 youth volunteers are working the base camp and reaching out to houses which are affected in the area. The entire camp and reach out campaigns are being overseen by a senior team from Delhi and Dehradun along with local residents. Currently a team has moved ahead of Rudraprayag to identify location of another base camp and a make-shift hospital which aims at providing relief to; areas like Guptkashi, Chamoli, Joshi Math, Badrinath and low lying areas of Kedarnath.
