The Soul Exists!

You stimulate an instrument and it works accordingly? Just like the stimulation-response mechanism of machines, the behaviour and reaction of our bodily machinery is totally dependent upon the stimulation received from confronted circumstances.

Scientists further states that the most active part of our bodily machine is the Nervous System! Depending upon the signals broadcasted to it by the sense organs, it works out a specific action. A bit superior to this philosophy is the viewpoint of psychologists who believe– A human being is not just an assemblage of few body parts like the nervous system. Rather, there exists a conscious mind in it.” As per the belief system set by them– mind, being the controlling force, is the only source of human existence? Thus, for ages, the multitude of distinguished psychologists and philosophers have been breeding and nurturing only the body-centered or the mind-centered ideologies.

However, in effect, this assumption is baseless. It is absolutely mistaken! There exists a subtlest entity in our bodies. This body is, indeed, perishable. But, that entity is imperishable. It is, essentially, the eternal current of life in us. This life-force has been eulogized as 'soul' by our self-realised exalted saints. So, let's try to validate and substantiate the vital existence of this life-force called 'soul' through Scientific Experiments, Philosophical Analysis, and Out-of-Body Experiences.

OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCES AND THE EXISTENCE OF SOUL

25th March, 1962… a real incident collected from the life of an army officer was published in 'The Sunday Times'. It was narrated as– I was in the battlefield of western Damurd. There was a devastating bomb blast at the distance of merely two hands, which blew me far away. In the wounded state, I kept on lying on the heap of sand. Gradually, I, losing my consciousness, was getting benumbed… All of a sudden, I experienced something extraordinary. I stood up and started flying upwards. At the height of 20 feet, I stopped abruptly. I looked downwards, and, found my gross body lying lifeless on the heap of sand… For a long time, I kept on watching the ongoing battle. As soon as the smoke of those blasts dispersed, I could again see my abandoned body lying on the same mound. At the same time, I felt as if some unknown force pushed me back into it. As soon as I made my entry into my body, I yelled bitterly out of pain. I was revivified!”

Few years later, in Oxford University, a writer named Celia Green conducted a survey? Approximately 24% students recounted their transcendental experiences. One of the students said– “One night, I got up to drink water. I took steps towards the fridge. Suddenly, I turned around to look backwards, and, to my bewilderment, I saw that I was even lying still on my bed… So far, I held the view that I was 'my body'. But, contrary to my belief, I saw my body lying apart from me.”

Such out-of-body-experiences (OBEs) have been experienced by thousands and millions all over the world. Investigations regarding the same have been made by many experts; many Universities have introduced a separate branch orienting around transcendental psychology. This science of transcendental psychology has been named as 'Parapsychology'.
All the investigations and research in this field have fructified into the conclusion that human being is not just the assemblage of gross bodily machine and a sensual mind. Rather, there prevails a transcendental life-force in this assemblage that, at the time of death, deserts it. The same has been referred to as 'soul' by the self-realised beings.

SCIENCE AND THE EXISTENCE OF SOUL

Today, even modern scientists are actively working to substantiate the existence of a life-sustaining force? Dr. Gates named his unparalleled experiment as the 'Wilson Cloud Chamber Experiment'. During this experiment, he took a transparent cylinder and created total vacuum in it. A special camera, which could capture the pictures inside the cylinder, was then fitted. Thenceforth, a few mice, frogs, and rabbits were put inside the cylinder. Then, with strong electric currents, they were killed. The moment the life abandoned their bodily cages, some startling pictures flashed on the camera screen. In that chemical fog, shadowy figures of those mice, frogs, and rabbits were simply seen floating, while their gross bodies were lying dead on the cylinder floor.

Even our holy scriptures exhort that within the gross garb abides a subtle entity, having the same form as that of the gross one. Further, within the subtle body lies the causal body, in which there dwells the supreme, illuminating force called 'soul'?

With this experiment, scientists, who believed only in the gross or robotic existence of man, are themselves trapped in the snare of a dilemma. The reason being that their own studies are thunderously substantiating the existence of a separate controlling force of consciousness within the body.

PSYCHOLOGY AND THE EXISTENCE OF SOUL

In this modern age, Freud is known as the father of psychology? He deeply analysed the human mind, the emotions originating on the mental plane, mental tendencies, etc. However, Freud was the staunch follower of materialism, as per whose doctrine a man is a mere dummy of hard-wired thoughts and tendencies.

However, one of the renowned students of Freud, Karl Jung, stepped beyond the boundaries of limited physicalism? He endeavored to take high flights in the eternal, transcendental skies of consciousness.

Thus, expanding the limits and boundaries of his research, Jung deeply studied and analysed the science of dreams; for, these dreams originate not on the conscious plane rather on the planes of the subconscious mind. And Jung believed– 'The unconscious has better sources of knowledge than the conscious mind, which has only sense perception to guide it.'
Many such visions stirred and chilled that psychologist. Which is that part of our existence that does not perish despite our physical death? Jung could sense some eternal, transcendental truth. Other than this, we can prove this concept rationally and logically too. Following the logical gauge– let me suppose that there is nothing like soul. However, believing this implies that I doubt anything related to soul. Doubting implies contemplating! Someone who can't think cannot doubt! Now, let's step ahead. If there is a 'thought', there must be a 'thinker'? It implies, when I doubt the existence of a soul, it, in itself, substantiates the fact that I too have some existence. 'I' exist!!

Now, who and what is this 'I'? If we follow some distracted psychologists, then this 'I' is our 'conscious mind'? However, this belief gets shattered by the lashes of a simple assertion. Reason– what is mind? Realistically speaking, mind is an incessant 'flow of thoughts'. If this 'mind' is 'I', then it simply implies 'thoughts' are 'I'. However, thoughts constantly keep on fluctuating. However, the sense of 'I' in us is always constant. Then, how can this 'I' be our 'mind'?
Following the studies of neurophysicists, we can consider this 'I' to be a neuro signal in a particular brain part? These conclusions established by the neurophysicists seem to be baseless? Let's consider one more example– that of Palm Reynolds! It is known that during some complicated brain surgery, her brain was completely dead, showing not even a single E.E.G wave. Also, there was not even a single drop of blood flowing through her nerves. All these symptoms are the vivid indicators of brain death. In that state, Palm found herself apart from her body and beheld the whole operation from a distance. When she returned into her body, she described the whole process of the operation before the doctors.

Here, a question arises– what is that conscious entity which showed its presence and existence, by enabling Palm to experience and realise the entire scene? Which was the entity that maintained memory of the entire episode after her return to her physical body?
Following all these true life incidents, even the scientists and researchers are forced to accept unanimously–
Contrary to the physicalist creed, I believe that the prime reality of my experiencing self cannot with propriety be identified with brain, neurons, nerve impulses or spatial temporal patterns of impulses?
Thus, in the light of all these revealed facts and figures, this truth itself gets validated and substantiated– there must be a trans-mundane, subtle reality, which is the source of identity, dwelling within man? This realty is Soul? Yes, Soul exists!
